Re: UK Whitegoods Shutdown & Upgrade

Is it me as I can’t find how to put a new posting on the forum? I would have thought there would have been a button that I can click on or is it for specific members? Can anyone tell me where to put a new post?

I rely alot on ukwhitegoods for support and I am concern of the slow speed and the lack of result throw back on the search. Perhaps you are still reindexing the posts and that is taking some time?

    Now that’s useful!!

You should be able to post a new topic on any of the trade forums, so there’s a permissions issue there. I need to sort that.

There are people busting a gut to sort out the speed issue trust me, nagging about it won’t make a blind bit of difference as I’m already (and have been excessively) doing that for days.

its running really slow for me too. after clicking “post a reply” this page took over 45 seconds to load. navigating around is taking forever. all other usual spares sites i use are as normal.

Re: UK Whitegoods Shutdown & Upgrade

    Guys,

I know it’s slow, really slow. To the point where at times it’s practically unusable.

There’s a routine running that’s maxing out the server that we’re trying to locate and fix. Once that’s done it will work as usual but until that happens there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it.

To say I’m annoyed, stressed out and growling at anyone that says the wrong thing to me at the moment would be understatement of the year. I’m more annoyed than any of you as I have to work on this server all day long every day!

Going back to the old format is not an option I’m afraid.

Kwatt – you do a great job and what we would have done without you?

I do not mean to moan, like everyone are frustrated at the slow speed and becoming at the verge of unusable and potentially turning down new jobs due to lack of access in order to brush up our knowledge. Any new things with computers always start of slow, I look forward when it comes together at full speed.

I am just trying to navigate my way round, usually I do not mind and enjoy it. I had to turn one job away as I could not access information on a particular Hoover washer but I am not complaining just the fact of life! I am prepared to put up with teething problems, so do keep up with the good work as long I can still access to this trade forum while I on the repair job.

I know, it’s just annoying me that I can’t actually just solve the problem. Most frustrating.

It will get there, it’s just taken longer than we’d expected and, the laugh is that the local test and the remote test all went 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} smooth!!!

Two tests prior to launch and not a single inkling of the problem we’re having now. It’s always the same, it breaks when you don’t want it to.

It is being worked on though right now and probably into the wee small hours by Sudeep, Li and Trevor all trying to get to the root of the problem and my nagging them probably isn’t winning me friends right about now. 😉

And, it’s holding other stuff up as well. 🙁

    I can’t see a problem..

Click a link then go and have your breakfast whilst it loads, click the next link, read War & Peace, click the next link and circumnavigate the globe and so on. 8) 😆

It WILL all be worth it in the long run.

Oh come on, it wasnt that long ago that we were all on dial – up, and this would have been lightning fast…… we are all getting too demanding (like our customers?)

I agree with Jim, it will get there in the end. If thats not good enough, apply for a refund…… 🙂

And there was me thinking it might be my computer that’s on a go-slow again – last time it was one of my daughters picked up a virus from youtube!

I’ve been using the advanced search tool, clicking search by topic, then right-clicking each message I want to view and selecting “open in new window”, then I can continue to peruse the search results, opening 5 or 6 new windows, for example.
Then as I’m viewing the first new window, which will hopefully have loaded by the time I’ve finished selecting from the search results, the next new window might have finished loading, etc

Just replied to a pm, though, and it’s taken ages to go to my outbox and now it’s just sitting in my outbox.
I’m hoping it will send and go to my sent folder before I shut this machine down for the night!

    That’s fine, it’s sent.

It won’t move from there till the recipient reads it.
