Had someone phone me and ask me for a price, told him £75, at which he replied “but my friend said he would fix it for £25”.
I replied “well why don’t you get him to fix it then”. His reply “because he doesn’t know how to do it, but could you come round and show him, then he could do it”.November 28, 2011 at 11:10 pm #363900kwatt

Should have offered him a training course for £500 then he could fix it for £25.

Customer : I thought it would be £20 to £30 for you to come out and replace both hinges on my dishwasher.
Me :My labour charge is £49 and the hinges will probably be about £20.
Customer : Oh, thats about £100 then isn’t it?

I went to install a replacement gas cooker last week for an insurance company. The old cooker had been damaged whilst being moved. It was one of those sheltered housing bungalows for pensioners and when I got there I unpacked the the new cooker and then noticed that there was no gas supply in the kitchen.
I explained to the old dear that I could not install as there was no gas pipe to which she said “the old one worked fine before it was damaged” I thought I better check again and sure enough there was no gas pipe anywhere in the kitchen and then I noticed all the boxes in her living room.
After some subtle questioning i found out that the old one did work fine before the removal men took it from her old house ( with a gas supply ) to her new bungalow ( with no gas supply )
We all get old eventually :rotfl:
