Had this one today when discussing the possible causes of a guys fridge freezer problem:
“It could be something to do with the gas” i said.
“No it can’t be anything to do with the gas mate, i’ve just had a brand new boiler and central heating system fitted!”Donut!!

I went to a job with hotpoint dryer not heating as well hotpoint washer door not opening. It was in a lean to room and it was 80 to 90 cm wide. Machines was in the room first, then built a work top around it rather tightly. Unable to pull it out to reach the plugs. In tumble dryer on the door, it was packed with fluff.
Me – you need to throw this away (the fluff as thick as pillow)
Cust – why do I need to throw it away? What a waste. Can I wash it?
Me – you can try wash it but it will block your washing machine, trust me, simply throw it away
Cust – are you sure I can’t wash it?It was one of those conversation that you cannot keep your cool and wanting a hammer … Walked out of the job cos she wouldn’t listen.

Got an interesting call tomorrow, customer with a Hotpoint WF540.
Says its not working properly and when she sets it to spin the ‘timer’ moves to programme 4??????
Even though I told her it is a physical impossibility as it is just a simple selector switch she was adamant that it moved on its own. :rolls:

Must be a different machine, probably Indesit with motorised selector, and she’s just reading the model no. off a book for her daughter’s machine.

Sorry, forgot to update it, up to my neck in bearing changes ATM. π
She had changed the machine since my last visit, now has a WF561, that still has a selector switch, not a timer. I have no real idea what she was on about but after nearly 40 years of marriage I know that if a woman says it happened, then ‘it happened’ :rolls:
Drain pump blocked. π

i went to visit my daughter on Saturday afternoon, left about 4.30pm.
Returned at 9.00pm to find 7 calls on the answerphone. As it was not that late I decided to give them a ring rather than let more calls build up over the rest of the weekend.
With one exception they were all grateful for my call, however one lady I rang said “its not convenient to speak to you now, ring me back on Sunday”. :rolls:
I politely advised her that I would ring back when it was convenient for me which would be sometime on Monday (today).

Not necessarily stupid, but some of the comments that customers make over and over:
(1) 30 seconds into job, just doing Megger test “Have you found the problem yet?”
(2) 5 minutes later, “It’s only when these machines go wrong that you realise how much you rely on them!”
(3) Putting machine back together, “How long have you been doing these repairs, then?”
(4) 30 seconds into test, at the first sound of water, “Oh that sounds better, looks like you’ve fixed it OK.”
(5) Invoice handed over, “I can’t remember how long it was since I last wrote a cheque. It’ll be difficult for people like you when they abolish them, won’t it?”
(6) Leaving the house, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I hope I don’t see you again too soon!”February 14, 2012 at 8:26 pm #363931admin

I went last week to a integrated indesit washing machine that had problems with
Motor action. Underneath machine mains water pipe was leaking, small spray of water coming out of pipe. I was unable to move machine over water pipe as it was touching the bottom of machine, called him back into room told him that he would have to get the machine out
As I was not going to take his kitchen apart, plus if I hit the pipe around it
Could kick off into big flood, ok he says,
Me. phone me back when its out ,Two hours later get call ,its out
Me, back again , water has damaged pcb, did not dry out and work againI will order up board emw..
One day later his on phone is it here yet,,,? Ive got lots of washing..!Day two post man brings board, I phone him his in at 1.00pm
I fit board all working again , plumbers been also and fixed leak..

ME , NO . PAYMENT MADE ON FIXING MACHINE THANKS
HIM , WHY DONβT YOU DO 28 DAYS INVOICE :rolls:
ME , BECAUSE OTHER PEOPLE BEFORE YOU HAVE NEVER SENT THE PAYMENT, SO NO MORE FREE CREDIT , πΏ
ME, I will go to my van and get my chip and pin machine.. π
Him when we put the card in the machine , this may not go through mate π―
