Hi Justin,
yes that’s right.
The front caps failing cause the pizzo crystal to ‘click’ (like a relay) and the L.E.Ds to flash.

Hi BB,
Great, that makes it a much easier fix. I suspect that I may have a rear cap failure also as the ice maker doesn’t work, but I can live with that for the time being until I can get round to dragging the fridge out. Curing the clicking is the priority at present.

Is this a UK model?
Those numbers don’t come up anywhere, did you get them off the rating plate? Was there a 12NC number there?
Without pinning it down you may well get the wrong board.

You will only be able to buy a replacement, to make sure you get the right one, from Whirlpool France then I’m afraid. Thats’ why the numbers don’t come up for us in the UK as, so far as Whirlpool UK are concerned, that model doesn’t exist.

ParticipantOk, i understand, but i think (hope) that we can find a technical notice about this fridge and then maybe we can find the right board.
But the question is, where may i find this technical documentation (if it exists)…November 24, 2009 at 2:28 pm #142389ajazied
ParticipantAnother question regarding this.
Do you think that i may have electrical compatibilites troubles if i by this board in UK and use it for a french Fridge ?November 24, 2009 at 3:20 pm #142390kwatt
KeymasterNo idea, but I wouldn’t chance it with a component costing that much. 😉
The only way you’ll get any info is from Whirlpool France.

ParticipantCan’t believe how many people are having similar problems!
Mine is a 2 or 3 years old, I’ve had Repaircare out who have replaced the rear board (but am a bit suspicious it was the correct one as the lights went out in the fridge and freezer!), some internal sensor and the shutter between the freezer and fridge and still its not working! Repaircare have given up so I called Whirpool, there engineer said its completly frozen up and needs new rear and front boards totalling £473!!
When its switched off it defrosts leaving water on the floor and then works for a couple of days before starting the process again.
Please help I need it for Xmas and New Year!!

Hi Cpett,
No light in the fridge and freezer is a faulty ‘Standby’ relay (if we can assume the board is correct)
Have you sorted the problem yet?

ParticipantHi BB
Thanks for your comments
By replacing the standby relay to sort the lights I’m guessing won’t solve the frozen issue?!

Hi Cpett,
Exactly how long has the new rear module been in your unit and when did the icing up start?
With all power disconnected! You could test the ‘standby’ relay if you have a meter or, simply bridge it out since the relay is only there to turn off your fridge freezer; this negates the need to get to the mains plug just a few feet away.
Assuming the board did work once, the problem could simply be a faulty compressor relay not switching off fully.
I’ve had this on boards just 9 months old.
Do you still have your original board?
Maybe you could repair it or, if you’re not confident, send it for repair.Regards

ParticipantHi bb
The new modules only been in about a month, the cooling problem happened sometime before this. When Repaircare decided to replace the module to sort the cooling, instantly the lights went out and still the unit didn’t cool. I’m afraid I don’t have the old module either

Hi Cpett,
Are you able to bridge out the ‘standy’ relay to establish if that’s your lighting problem?
Once the light fault is sorted, we can suss if your board is correct for your unit.
