KeymasterRe: how do you deal with non payers?
Simple.
Send them notice of legal action if debt not paid.If still not paid then place into court but you need the christian name to log the action. If you can prove that you had authorisation to do the work and gave then notice concerning the work and if they paid by cheque which bounced then they don’t have a defence.
I’m sorry but I don’t take prisoners even if its less than £50 at the end of the day its your money not theirs.

KeymasterRe: First4service thread
Martin
Again you seem to miss the point..It’s not about just the contract it is about a work provider stating that they condone unqualified, inexperienced people leaving engineers with a lot of pain if things go wrong. And advising engineers to openly put forward people without any experience what so ever and that is a very dangerous game full stop. Its not about passing engineers the work.

Hi
I would say its either the defrost (evaporator) sensor or the defrost heater or thermal fuse.

KeymasterRe: First4service thread
And on another risk that has been just thrown in the corner. Below is a quote from First4service.
If you feel you wish to employ another engineer/ fitter to carry out these jobs also , please do . They dont need to have any previous experience with tumble dryers , as full training will be given. If you do this , please let us know, so that we can update your weekly job allocation
Now say for instance you do as it has been quoted.. Employ someone who has NO previous experience or knowledge on tumble driers and they miss something that an knowledgeable engineer would notice and the next day the customer has an electric shock and or dies or the house goes up in flames.. Who is left responsible ? YOU The owner of the company and employer not First4service nor Whirlpool or Hotpoint.
As it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your employees are fully trained and have the relevant training to carry out the work safely. and without risk to others.
On that note I will leave you to decide.

KeymasterRe: First4Service/TEJ/VHA/WarrantySolutions.Co.Uk
As of today after a customer was informed that we no longer work for them..
We also no longer carry out the work.
There seems to be a number of engineers who are not covering their appliances and Rangemaster appliances for the reduced rates on out of warranty calls.
I must point out that it is First4service that I am referring to. And maybe it might be a good idea to separate this thread to individual companies and not as a group.

KeymasterRe: JTM & 0800 Latest demand from engineers
they have updated that though:
Photographs of the rating plate will not be expected if:
The appliance is integrated and would need to be removed in order to access the serial number only.
The rating plate has been removed or has worn off. In those circumstances a photo showing where the rating plate has been/should be will suffice.Yes Simon I know after a e mail I sent to Charlie Draycott pointing out several things and pointing out that they held engineers health and safety as not a concern and that further damage could be occurred by removing appliances that have no fault to access the rating plate.

KeymasterRe: Replacing cooker hood
Hi
All the hoods now require a minimum of 125mm and the better ones 150mm upwards.
You’ve got a 4 mtre run of ducting which is normally the maximum recommended 1 bend equals 1mtre and to be honest this is what is more likely causing the noise issues as the air is restricted. The only option you have is to replace the round ducting with oblong ducting and that will normally go into the space between joists ect and also gives a cleaner quieter airflow. Can you lift the floor boards upstairs to access the ceiling void ?.Bryan
