Matt did know about this early yesterday afternoon and could have reduced the engineers losses instead of waiting until midday to let anyone know and stop doing the calls that the engineers are not going to be paid for.

It has to be a silicone that withstands 300oc +.
It would also need to be cleaned completely off and de greased without using a oil based degreasing agent then resealed and left off for a minimum of 24hrs. You can’t just leave the old sealant on and try to rebound it with old bond still there.
The repair really needs to be done by an engineer as the top does come off and the plate retaining brackets would need to be undone. And then re assembled.

That makes the the room about £30. Now u can’t argue with that
But there wasn’t any biscuits .. But everyone else found them which was either side of the coffee machines.

There is another option .. why not give up your days to organise rooms,food,conferences and keep every engineer happy and also be justifiable for moneys spent. As its a one night stay. The rooms were clean comfortable. You could also go to the pub down the road if the chef wasn’t to your michelin standard.

It could be a thermistor or a leak. if asked I wouldn’t have mentioned a heater given the fault you have just mentioned.

I have the parts in stock if needed and I do know of an engineer that could do a visit but it would be on a chargeable basis.
