KeymasterRe: Assisting our Colleagues
He must do the rounds every morning , just when you are trying to sort your own staff out.
People must join DASA to support the industry, not just wait to see what they can get out of it first. We all have our own costs to carry, yet many of us invest a percentage of our earinings and some people a great deal of time into DASA.
Im sorry but when you are told poor profit in certain areas people cant afford to join DASA. I sorry but for £200 to £300 a year if they cant afford that well its time to get out. I wonder how much these people spend down the pub, gambling………etc.
INVEST in your industry and invest in yourself

KeymasterRe: Profit & Loss
I love this topic!!!!!
I have shed over 55 calls a week during the last 4 months …WHY?
Easy they ranged from £27 to £35 a call and were not profitable for me to do.
So I am now over staffed you might say …but you would be wrong as my chargeable work has shot up and I have taken on new contracts at £40.00 and £42.00 and £46.00 per call. The work is out there although not in volume…but when it is so profitable who needs volume? My turnover is down my profitability is up and I now have about 25 free job slots a week to fill, but we do not miss a single chargeable call (£58 or £67.50 depending on distance from base)
Work at £35.00 you can keep….My multiskilled engineers are worth more and I wont sell them or my company short.

KeymasterRe: Assisting our Colleagues
we agree on all points alex, I am not bothered by bonz and when he does phone he is usually ok with me. However I agree we should not help NESN’s etc but each other every time…even if bonz is wearing thin
all the best and dont forget to piss down wind 😆November 25, 2003 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Electrolux group automatic washer/washer dryer configuration #106314admin
KeymasterRe: Electrolux group automatic washer/washer dryer configura
thanks for helping bonz and I am only concerned with that ……the politics of the main contractor supplying relevent info I am in total agreement with, and would point out that befor signing a contract to do work we all should make sure of what we are signing and how well qualified the Service support will be.
Its easy to be wise after the event and this thread has brouhgt to light a very interesting point.Who wants the hassle involved with supporting the work provider for free…….because their technical ability is ZERO.Perhaps they might up the call rate £5.00 for our help.
NOW THAT REALLY IS PISSING IN THE WIND..

One of our members needs help and I’m ashamed of those of you who can help and play politics with him.
Of course there are costs etc…everyone understands we all have costs!
But to f888 about like this when a member needs help is poor.
I can asure you no-one from this group gets turned away from my help when I have been asked, and never will.Sorry Bonz don’t know the answer to this one but E- mail me a mobile and I’ll have an engineer phone you to see if he can help.
Regards

KeymasterRe: Freshening Up
ken, with mark moving house I know he has no internet at home for a week or so, perhaps you could phone him at work and see what he says regarding how we could alter the Dasa logo.Would need to go to council for discussion as the first step.

Excellent designs may I add.

Very good debate and one for the future regarding Network-Dasa, however I would hope the way forward is collectively ….a little like JFK once said…
ASK NOT WHAT BONZ CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR BONZ!
We have to learn to share technologies as well as ideas and friendships, and a more private approach to supplying the answer to someone a couple of hundred miles away from you might be appropriate.

KeymasterRe: Electrue/NESN
Let me be quite clear and say;
Network-Dasa has nothing to do with whatever transpires between SOS and electrue..We (network-dasa ) are no part of it.
Nothing I’m doing will end in tears and no-one is getting nasty…..“just sat watching and learning how not to treat the guys we want to do work for us!”

KeymasterRe: Fisher & Paykel
F&P have a world wide tie up with Whirlpool and the business moves forward with F&P products in English speaking countries etc.
Whilst service work may move from D&G you should rest assured the new network will be trained before hand..
enough said.

KeymasterRe: CORGI Training for engineers…maybe not!
If you try Independent Certification Centres, e.g. Zurich, that you find listed in the Gas Installer publication, you may find them a little more lenient.
When I did my course, two years ago, I informed them that I had not repaired a gas appliance for over 10 years but I had many years experience as a domestic appliance service technician. They found this quite acceptable.
The rules may have changed in the last couple of years, I’m not sure, but it might be worth a try.
