    Re: Freshening Up

Alterations to the Dasa Logo have been muted about for a couple of years. I remember a Scottish member bringing down some suggestions to an AGM awhile ago. At the time it went down like a damp squid. As you say times are changing. Produce some eye catching examples and we will see what we can do . Who knows it may be the kick start we all need.

With regards to certain companies wanting something for nothing. This can not be allowed to happen. You have to speculate to accumulate. Surely it can not correct for people to invest in the future of their industry and then the others sit on the side lines until they see a financial benefit and then follow like lemmings. You only get out of these things what you are willing to put into them.

If people are not prepared to support their industry and work for the general good of the whole industry they desereve to be left behind.

    Hi ken,
the object is to scrap a very high percentage of the appliances, there is a figure for recycling but I don’t know its value. The waste company’s have huge machines which you just feed in a washer and out the other end the waste comes out in the correct binie ferrous, non. rubber/plastic.These machines are already in place and transporting the appliances is not so expensive. The real costs are those incurred collecting the appliances to a central pick up and in the rubber stamping of the inspection to assess as scrap.

Lets remember the vast majority are END OF LIFE and as such not worth refurbishing and indeed beyond refurbishing..

When EAC take over whats going to happen to outstanding invoices. No one can submit all their outstanding invoices within 24 hours companies will have parts on back order and outstanding calls to complete.

The question to ask will the Bernstein Group be paying invoices for jobs still in progress.

After the takeover EAC will have a number of field engineers who are multi skilled but these engineers are limited in numbers and can not give full national coverage and what about gas training and Corgi registration.

For a awhile Caremark has been losing engineers to another manufacturer and therefore agents work has been increasing, along with improved payments and rates. Fortunately we did not suffer greatly with Caremark taking pre payments in any great volume and we did benefit from a number of chargeable calls.

If EAC can continue in the vain Caremark are finishing it may be a positive move, as long as they build and maintain a relationship with their agents.

EAC are staunch supporters of DASA can they and the Independents work together to a common goal. A high level of service to the end user with a profit level to reflect the service offered.

    wee

    My understanding is this………

If a manufacturer produces 500,000 new cabinetts for retail sale, it will be responsible for the disposal of said appliances at end of life.Assuming this is 1 years production.

Enter insurance company…….offers one stop solution to manufacturer to handle said disposals, manufacturer pays £xx multiplied by 500,000 to the insurance company to deal with the problem .

Insurance company seeks tie up with waste management companies in this venture and between them seek others to do the donkey work.

The insurance company having the infrastructure in place is in a position to offer the service to all manufacturers who see this as an ideal solution as it only costs money.

Therefore the potential earnings for insurance company(plus waste management co.) is £xx multiplied by 1.8 million washers per year that are sold into the sector within the UK.Out of that they have to run the operation …………

If you want part of this pot

DO NOT SELL YOUR SELF SHORT

Would like to hear the views of others

There should be a government investigation into the price of spares etc…..that would shake up this industry.

    Which department would do that????????

    CDA / CAREMARK

😈 Caremark started this scheme of charging for the call and selling the part direct to customer and then sending a job through as a warranty call about 4 yrs ago. CDA started doing this about 5 months ago but after talking to linn at CDA it seems that they would like engineers who work for AIS and also direct to give a bit of realistic feedback to come to a agreement on the 2nd yr onward parts warranty call charges.
I suggested that a increase of say £12 on top of the normal rates they pay and suggested that if this payment rise is given through AIS it is made clear that it goes direct in full to the engineer and not allow a extra cut for the work provider 😯 (sorry graham (AIS)but there isnt any extra work involved between in and out of warranty call handling 😆 )as i know you will read this.

I don’t pay sick pay at all.

However I do pay a Good attendance allowance weekly.Dead simple if the engineer works the whole week he gets £30.00 bonus, now’t he he has a day off.Allowances are made for family circumstances ect and I can report no problems with sick days what so ever. When I get an engineer off work ist’s genuine.

You can also use this to increase an engineers take home without a percentage rise and to reward an engineer for extra effort etc.

    hi

Several names but …an ignition candle will do,specify the position of the burner as they can be different lengths.

Comet sell spares by post they have a depot in Leeds somewhere, you will need the model number to get correct part.

    hope this helps.
