ParticipantRe: Whatever became of the Titan W/m?
So…is anywhere actually selling it? Their website page for stockists has never deviated from a ‘we are expanding our network – call back later’ type message.
The company address seems to be a mailing address in Esher.
Anyone out there actually seen/serviced one?

Candy have been rumoured to be selling off the Hoover plant at Cambuslang as well for the past few years. Apparently they were offered (a very rumoured) seven million quid for the land for, you guessed it, housing.
K.
I think Cambuslang takes in the vacuum cleaner returns and may be a base for some engineers. Certainly no production there so the current functions could probably operate from smaller premises 👿

Langford Engineering Co, isn’t it?I remember that from a training course nearly 20 years ago. I don’t remember anything else though.
Longford Engineering Company – you were close. Factory was originally in Longford Road, hence the name.
Suppose it stands for Low Engineered C**p these days 😉

Great – so Blythe Bridge gets a new housing estate and the Indesit asset strippers wander off into the sunset counting their cash :angry4:
Which unfortunately begs the question….should the staff at Yate and Kimnel Park now be getting nervous ?

Currys drivers are most definitely trained to do installation work. Not to say cock-ups don’t occur but if the transit bolts had been left in I would expect the Currys delivery centre to own the problem.
Hence my continued scepticism as to whether the product was a delivery only and the customer did the ‘install’ :rolls:

You sure? – or was it just a delivery only and the customer did the install?

ParticipantRe: End of an Era for Lec
End of an era for sure. The original factory was a real 50’s time warp with wooden partitioned offices etc.
Ironically the previous owners Sime Darby pumped a shed load of cash in and there is a state of the art fridge factory on the site adjacent to the original works. Pity they could not make it work before having to sell out to GD. 😥
Anyone remember what LEC actually stands for?

Most of the products are made by Electrolux, and the rest are Gorenje and badged Frigidaire.
Alex
Electrolux in the States maybe. Over here the Frigidaire name is owned by HI Group based near Wakefield and I think you will find most of the kit is Chinese in origin or sometimes Gorenje.

The subtitled version is worth a view for comedy value.
‘Francesca lists her favourite plates’ and ‘father came outside the TV box’ have probably lost something in translation. 😀

And don’t forget the phase that Servis had in the late 90’s with producing washing machines in dark blue and green.
They really flew off the shelves….

Can’t remember if they carried the Ariston or Indesit (same difference) badge, but about 5 years or so back there were fridge freezers with pictures on the doors.
I remember there was a picture of strawberries and another of a New York skyline at night. There may have been other variations.
They were as popular as you can imagine :snigger:

As regards callibration you would need to send it to a specalist firm for that but I have always checked my own megger using resistors which give you a double check as to if the instrument does require service. Are your resistors in calibration?

If its 400 quid at cost then I suppose we will be in Miele price territory for retail. I’m doubtful at present it can break into that sort of market but hope to be convinced otherwise. -
