ParticipantRe: Advice Needed Please
Your Hotpoint engineer was correct – the FFA90 first appeared around the summer of 2003
Still – on the bright side you seem to have acquired a some free tools!

ParticipantRe: ISE Washer Now Available
Glad this has now come to market – it certainly looks the part from the photo – are its origins a secret?
IME the side panel pressings look like a Beko 😯 but the door/control panel layout and filter flap would suggest the Siemens/Bosch stable 😀

ParticipantRe: Help! Anyone heard of ‘Blue Ice’ Wine coolers?
Its more than likely Chinese in origin from the pictures I’ve seen on ebay – maybe a Haier but not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain.
I’d take the offer of the refund I think!

ParticipantRe: It’s not commercial use… Honest!
We have had problems where suppliers dont want to support a machine which is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} domestic use but its at the same address as a commercial location – ie the private living quarters of a pub, the wardens flat of a care home or a school caretakers house.
Its a hell of a job sometimes to get a service call under warranty as the dumbo in the call centre has a very black and white view of life.

ParticipantRe: Microwave Saisho MW2000 Turntable Motor Required
Saisho branded microwave was the Dixons version rather than the Matsui (Currys) and I know that Dixons chain have not sold a microwave oven for probably at least 10 years.
From memory, I would think that its either an LG or Samsung under the skin, but cant help much more than that I’m afraid.

ParticipantRe: CARLTON
All the Carlton badged built-in cooking models are supplied by Beko

ParticipantRe: hotpoint tumble dryer design fault
The early ones had a disastrous failure rate for the drum fault but I was told from a good source that the newer production was OK. Maybe not…
I fear another example of Indesit ‘quality’….

ParticipantRe: TEST METER CALIBRATION
Dave_Conway wrote:Who calibrates the calibrator’s equipment I wonder ? 😀
Dave.
In answer to your question Dave, when I worked in a NAMAS accredited test lab a while back, the process was that the ‘calibrator’ would have a reference unit whose readings were traceable back via certification to National Standards at the National Physics laboratory.
Our reference units used to be calibrated once a year by NPL or other accredited calibration house.
That was 10+ years ago but doubt that things have changed – its probably still a paperwork and red tape nightmare!

ParticipantRe: Can Hotpoint get any worse
[What does irk me a bit is that many a good brand name has been totally devalued (IMO) by using cheap rubbish instead of what the customer thought they were buying]
Absolutely right and exactly the point I was making with regard to Lec.
Dont automatically beat up the poor salesman in the out of town shed though. They do not necessarily have the knowledge of who makes what and it may aid the purposes of the corporate suits to keep it that way because the cheap tat will normally make a better margin.
I would think that that the shed salespeople would sell most recognised brands with conviction and in good faith – but if they knew where they really came from…
