Re: Hoovermatic Twin Tub Washer. Advice on Repair Costs Ple

The Electra spinner, if round in shape is a Frigidaire, if Square a Creda. Totally different animals I’m afraid.

What you need to find is an old hoover eng who happens to have kept these old bits and with the knowledge.

    Best of luck

    Re: Waste Carriers Licence

    Yes.

Parts as replaced in guarantee are not deemed as waste as when they come back into this office they are being sent back to the manufacturers for quality control etc. and they have the waste licence for disposal. We are not transferring waste at that point as the goods are not classed as waste.

Older parts as replaced either chargeable or on insurance are left at customers premises as these are the property of the insurer or customer.

The wash noise could be the pulsator bearing, behind the black ribbed wheel.

The “screech” on spin is the resilient carbon faced seal below the spin can.

The poor drainage is either the rubber caps to the diverter valve adrift, or the rubber impellor has come off the shaft.

Sadly most parts are now obsolete including pulsators, resilient seals etc.

I would imagine no engineer would be keen to touch it as there is no locking mechanism on the lid assy which was a safety feature introduced late 1974 on subsequent models.

Just had the latest Yellow Pages delivered. Less than half the thickness of least years. What does that tell you?

As I was throwing out the old one, the new one has joined it.

Slight gap in the continitnuity of filming… hmmm :hmm:

I noticed that; also the arrow (dart) looks like it has hit the wrong side of the target to allow the direction of rotation of the board.

Someone has too much time on their hands, but a brilliant imagination.

There was a part number in the Hoover procedures manual for the long Phillips screwdriver. Also part numbers for the 5/16 nut spinner and the box spanners to remove the bearing housing bolts on the sloping front W/Mc. Que Martin…

    Re: Very old junior

You have done a neat job. If you want to use the real thing rather than cable ties, go to a shoe repairers and get something tough in the way of thread.

To get the roller out, turn it upside down, flick up the lever over the belt, grab hold of the belt and simply pull with the belt at one end. Keep your head back as it may fly out.

You can unscrew each end cap and remove the bearing for greasing and to replace the brush heads. Ensure you put it back the right way round as the caps are dedicated.

The Blue/White was the 1346 made from approx 1968 until 1975.

Martin must be away, or in a pensive mood as he would have leapt into this thread.

    Oh sweet memories.

1334 with the original handle grip. Circa 1962.

Only bit that was glued was the plastic tube with the foam insert (To reduce whistle) to the bellows, and it only needed a smear. The bag should be right down to the flange of the “bellows” The fixing method was to turn the bag inside out & tie the bag around the groove in the bellows with a strong twine and at the same time said bellows would be fastened to the flange. I did do some by substituting the tough thread with thin cable ties, but was not such a neat job.

Was a work of art as the zipper on the later bags had to be at the rear but slightly off-set, and zip up straight. Early bags were a roll down affair & no zip.

Probably take me longer than 20 mins to replace the armature now.

Over to Martin for some part numbers now.

How does she stand though regards less than 12 months service? However, illegal deduction of wages without consultaion is perhaps a point.

No doubt the poor girl is already scanning the jobs pages. It is sad though as it looks like she is keen to go out there & earn a living. Let’s hope this affair doen’t put the lass off.

Agreed. Used to spend over a grand on yell.com for several categories. Typed in my own town and there I was at the top because I have a website. Type in any other town, not there. I would have to pay premium to be in the list of neighbouring towns. I will appear eventually, but a long way down, and only if the punter chose “Vicinity”

Looked at my website on Google Analytics, 2 referrals from yell.com in a year. Soon put a stop to that.

The fact I thought I was already paying a premium and yet for what? I soon realised I was being fleeced. Have not bothered this year. Yell.com rep got really shirty, and slammed the phone down when I told him a visit would be a waste of his time as well as mine.

Has it been noticed that you now get 2 reps, one from Yellow Pages, then one from Yell.com

So Alex,I assume you too have a pc etc and don’t have a tv licence?

CCTV Not a licence matter as they do not have the capabilities of receiving a TV signal. If however you happen to be using an old TV as a monitor, different story.

We have 7 Networked PC’s and 7 wireless laptops in this building. None of them have a TV card, and I’ve had visists from the TV Licensing authority following up spurious names of persons who used our address when buying a telly, and there is no problem.

Martin wrote: I would imagine and the detector van may have been cruising your neck ‘o the woods? 🙁

Urban myth these detector vans being able to pick up a signal. Even in the old analogue days when they were cruising the estates, they were ratting on doors of households whose address came up as not having a licence declared and supposedly no telly in the house. Lets face it when was the last time you actually saw one? It was all high profile & scare tactics.

We keep getting letters from the TV licensing authority addressed to names who persons who don’t work here. Usually Mr Smith or Jones where it seems they buy a telly in Currys & then in the store puts our address down as theirs. Every time I phone them and they fully understand, have been told it is quite common.

    Re: The AA

Well they used to do similar in the 90’s. Then was absorbed into Supanet Solutions, which metamorphosised into Repair & Care, finally take over by the parent company of the AA at the time (Centrica) which of course was British Gas.

British Gas then come along, promised the earth, ask for our commitment, then the work ceases and they go out poaching engineers.

    Band wagon situation I suspect.
