    Re: Very old Zanussi?

The number she has given you is off the rating plate, don’t know why Zanussi used the C numbers as they were practically meaningless. All you need is the one off the fascia panel, either on the soap drawer if before 1987 or on beside the timer knob if later.

What on earth are you talking about? As usual indeed!

I always ensure I am fully conversant with facts and both sides of any debate.

Oldtog wrote:You rant like an old woman. You needs facts to back up your claims, without these you are dead in the water.

I’m sorry matey-boy but I do have the facts, further reinforced by the manner you decided to “go public” by putting out a statement into a forum that is nothing to do with DASA. Not to mention the bitterness you displayed. I do at least have a degree of integrity. Moreover, thanks to the actual facts of the case it is clear why you don’t come out of this in a good light.

Oldtog wrote:I will only repeat this once more and this is fact Okay, David Coombes dictated to me all of the original post, including the heading. Fact full stop.

In which case, why did you not say so in the beginning, and then back it up with some facts, or at least evidence. Furthermore I am amazed that D Coombes actually endorsed this statement as I feel he is better than that. The point is you said it, so you must therefore shoulder the responsibility for those actions.

Oldtog wrote:Alex before you start spewing, check your facts first.

    Kettle-pot!

Same should have been said to the idiot who released the DASA mail-chimp prematurely telling everyone regarding my retirement, being the idiot who incidentally operated without the knowledge of DASA officers or DC (who was the administrator) They were all highly embarrassed by that affair, and it seems to me nothing has changed with regard to who had access and control over the information stream.

Oldtog wrote:Why did DC use me, because I have posted here before Dave has not, we are best buddies, and I worked/still work for Dave in the admin side (fact), as simple as that. Contact Dave and ask your self.

I would if he would answer his DASA phone.

To summarise; Burns in his post earlier gave a very accurate account of the reasons and perfectly fits the facts around this affair in respect of the build-up to the inevitable conclusion.

I will say no more on this matter and am happy to let the readership decide for themselves, however you have demonstrated to the extreme why the actions taken by DASA were indeed necessary.

Re: Why has the DASA Administrator resigned

I’m saying this as an EX DASA member and councillor. I can only speak as a bystander as I am looking at this as anyone else would who are not connected to DASA.

Old tog, it appears what you are now saying is; you feel you are a victim of internal politics or perhaps some new regime proposal, and so it is you who has thrown your teddy out the playpen by your post. Then you post on here with a title pointing directly at the DASA administrator.

You even said on here that your opening post was “dictated to you” leaving it to appear that this was official and you had been tasked with the press release.

I have to say when I read the headline then your post I thought it a strange way of putting out a statement, especially when the casualty (as per the title of the thread) had not made any announcement himself. I looked on the DASA website, and there was no mention on there at all.

I feel I need to add you carried out your action in a most unprofessional manner, you titled the post with a contentious question and seemed to take it upon yourself to tell the world on what appeared to be someone else’s behalf.

The following may not look connected but is very pertinent as this reminds me of a similar situation nearly 12 months ago.

When I retired and sold my business back in January I spoke to Dave Coombes, he was the first to know outside of my direct circle. I wanted to allow the new incumbents to run my old company for a Month with me in the background to ensure a seamless transition. Then I was going to tell everyone personally and demonstrating that the transfer had been straightforward. I explained this to DC and he promised to keep this to himself.

However, some idiot in DASA decided to release a press statement by way of mail-chimp and tell all their members and associate members, including some of my work providers that I had retired. Dave Coombes along with all senior officers of DASA could not stop apologising, and in fact changed their procedures to prevent a re-occurrence. That was done in the same manner as your posting in this affair, being unofficial, off the wall and very damaging.

There is a positive, although DC has been a stalwart in this industry and will be missed, at last he can put his feet up a bit more and enjoy retirement to the full.

    I will wish him well.

In which case why did you speculate in your last line….

MMmmm very strange, especially with their Event coming up?

I would have thought if this was a “press release” it would be done by a councillor, and on the DASA website.

I know Dave Coombes hadn’t been very well, and he was the only one on payroll so he may have been overexerted at times.

What tickles me is he also bangs on about his working relationship with manufacturers etc and how he is “called upon” to trouble shoot upon their behalf. Oh Yeah!!

I think the fix might be every time he posts something we simply reply with “Yea Whatever!”

You are p**ing against the wind.

I looked on here because I saw it yesterday when it first came up, and was interested in the subject. Now it has got silly. So-much-so, there is no point in reading any more in this thread, as will not apply, and therefore not be of subject or interest matter.

Maybe there should be a subject header…. THINGS THAT WERE POSTED IN A TOTALLY IRRELEVANT MANNER AND DOES NOT APPLY TO THE HEADER. Then perhaps could be transferred into said bin.

This started due to manufacturing issues and the apparent failings of any consumer notification scheme.

How did it evolve into engineer training, and what is the relevance with regards Product Safety?

Happy Birthday indeed. I remember logging in when this was was just beyond the embryonic stage, and looked like an experiment.

In the last 10 years we has seen them come & go and reported on lots of issues etc.

No doubt there have been many that have attempted to curtail us, or wanted UKW to close up shop, we are still here though, and still standing up to the network of repairers etc.

Hopefully I can add another post in 10 years time wishing UKW a 20th anniversary.

Had the idea of Kwatt or the mods emailing all repair agents on there mailing list and advising them of this type of company, if and when they show there ugly head in the future.

I’m sure there are a lot of members on this site that would have loved to have a heads up on this one.

To be honest I’d have thought KW and the mods etc had enough to do.

Surely it is up to those who use this site to keep up to date on the forums. If you want to be successful and not get stung, then you need to keep an eye open for yourself, not rely on someone else to watch your back.

Just my own take on this of course.

    Re: The Man From Indesit

Well it was 11 years ago I binned Merloni at £26 per call, and I was losing £2.10 a call.

The national service manager at the time (Neil Taplin) told me I was crazy in terminating. As they were 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my workload, I could see his point to a degree, but they were 28{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my income so quite simply, the figures didn’t stack up.

Within a year of my termination, the whole strategy of using agents evaporated with the amalgamation of the Hotpoint side of the operation. So I pre-empted their final solution.

Upshot of it all is, despite Merloni telling me I have made the biggest commercial mistake of my life and that my business would fall on its sword within a year, quite the opposite happened.

I suspect this visitor you have had the pleasure of the company of is straight out of university, or at least come from a totally different background.

Ken, get your kettle on, next visit will be from Candy I suspect.

That statement was a little bit disingenuous I think.

0800.com JTM whatever you want to refer to, may not be the everyones favourite work provider, but it is a tad mean to wish upon their agents the same fate as ISDAL. Also some of those are possibly reeling from the demise of ISDA as well.

I’m saying this for others, not myself as I’ve never worked for JTM et-al.
