Did someone call? Sorry must have been asleep.

Holds the chromed fasia/bezel in place on the 3224 keymatic. The screws go in on the ends. Wish I still had my old blue manuals and I would have given you the part number.

Keep an eye on it, may happen again in about a week or so.

If so, get in someone who knows these machines, possible Defrost Timer, Heater or the “Bobbin” Stats I mentioned first time.

Being frost free it should never need manual defrosting. However the biggest failing on a frost free is a good chance the frost has not disappeared. That blocks the airways of the freezer pipework inside, and the frost left in place causes heat.

Don’t worry about the wires, they connect to sensors, and these sensors can give trouble as above.

Best thing is as I said, Total defrost and see what it does. If recovers for a short period, say only for a few days, get in someone who knows what they are doing, tell them your findings and what you done in the way of a defrost, explain the results etc. Then leave the rest to them. If after the defost you get a full recovery and it maintains temp then you have sorted it just by switching off and allowing the frost to melt. If the fault goes away & then comes back as above, don’t assume you can keep defrosting it, you will need an engineer.

If it fails to revover at all after the defrost, then might be an expensive repair. However you don’t know that until you have had it investigated. It is a machine that is worth spending money on.

Did I read that right, one and a half minutes???

What about the time it takes to get there, access and confirm diagnosis, fit the part, test & carry out safety tests etc.

Around £100 all in is about right I’m sorry to say. However the pump on that one was an Askoll, and very reilable indeed. Possible foreign body jamming impellor, accessible from within the sump of the appliance.

One of the best ones they made. 2 Compressors running independent of each other. Almost 2 appliances stitched together.

Most likely cause, excess ice covering the evaporator behind the rear inner panel. Reason sometimes is a mystery on that model, you can get a blockage of ice in the sump below the evporator, but that usually results in clear ice on the freezer floor.

There are 2 “Bobbin” type cut-outs in the back, top R/H side behind the panel. Red and or Yellow wires. Do not touch as there are live wires in that area. 1 is -10 deg defrost termination, the other 40 deg heater islosated. They can play up, and I keep them in stock.

Quick test….. Leave the freezer section turned off over 24 hours with the door open, and in a warm room if possible. Expect some water on the floor. Turn it on and give it a run. Will take about 8 hours to get to optimum temp. If works for about 3 days, the fault relates to the defrost operation, if no better when turned back on could be a system fault, but highly unlikely. If works and stays working, just excess ice in the rear, reason unknown.

Only chuck it out if you have to, you won’t find another like it.

We had a training course about 4 years ago on the earlier version, and still have a box of spares.

I suspect we will never see one.

A seven-year-old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over whom should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her.

When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the England Cricket team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone!!!

The capitalism is the furthest away from reality as far as I can see. Not in a milion years in this business.

    The surrealisim stands a chance.

The Italian is the most appropriate, and I think they probably had lessons from the French.

I’m glad I shared it with you all.

Maybe the repy offered by Martin is not what the customer wants to hear. (No offence intended). However, this is the silly season.

Problem this time of the year is we are all struggling to keep up with demand, and no matter from whom purchased, or what make, every call is an effort to get to.

If the population of this country had a bit of thought and perhaps book those calls that have been niggling since the Summer, actually at the time; we would be able to help those who are in genuine need.

Now my comment sounds flippant as well, so I’m just as bad.

I dont know about the Somerset rapport.

Maybe Jeremy & I ought to work together on BS22 to 29 postcodes, but 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of calls in that area are the makes we cover in any case.

We tend to give out 2 or 3 local numbers depending on the type and nature of the call & location. I must admit I never get a referral back that came from one of those, but there again I don’t lose sleep over it.

I would imagine this was a one off.

We see loads, and the same arrangemnt is used for all the E/Lux group machines produced in the same factory.

The Mc Carthy Stone properties have them in their laundry rooms, so you can imagine the hammering they get, and despite all that use, this to me is unheard of.

    Happy ending though.

That is the problem with the news page being hidden in the lower reaches of the screen. The answer is to buy a wide-screen and lay the nonitor on it’s side. That way I will be able to see down the page without scrolling.

It is that bad I was even unable to access the link as posted above by Mr P.

I have tried all day, and to be honest on a busy Monday I cannot be ar5ed with it. This has been the only part of the forums I’ve been able to access today, and as it happens the most relevant.

Whatever else has happened I have missed. For all I know the world has ended & Mr P & I are the only ones left. Don’t look at me for breeding a new race, I’m too tired & have had the op.
