I must say Penguin is a good sport.

Some of this might be a bit unfair and we are having laughs on the cheap. It amazes me we haven’t ruffled a few feathers. May I suggest you have a gander at the following and go down to the link; remember that we as primates evolved from birds.

This guy could be a distant cousin of Mr. P, who incidentally does happen to have a degree. (Beautiful plumage)

Oh, you will need broadband and speakers.

Next time when Attenborough is on the telly and giving us some spiel about Emperor Penguins, take a close look at the facial markings either side of the beak. All will become abundantly clear.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about.

I’ve been in the garden and put a spoonful of Night-Nurse in the bird bath. If the rest of the nation does the same, that should sort it.

    FRED AND MARY

Fred and Mary get married but can’t afford a honeymoon, so they go back to mom and dads for the night.

In the morning, little Johnny gets up and has his breakfast. As he is going out of the door to go to school, he asks his Mum if Fred and Mary are up yet.

    She replies, “No”.

Johnny asks, “Do you know what I think? “

His mum replies, “Never mind what you think! Just go to school.”

Johnny comes home for lunch and asks his mum, “Is Fred and Mary up yet?”

    She replies, “No.”

Johnny says, “Do you know what I think?”

His mum replies, “Never mind what you think…eat your lunch and go back to school.”

After school, he comes home and asks, “Is Fred and Mary up yet?”

    His mum says, “No.”

Johnny asks, “Do you know what I think?”

His mum replies, “OK…What do you think?”

He says…”Well, last night Fred came in for the Vaseline and…I think I
    gave him my airplane glue.”

I was a member of DASA for over 10 years. My subscriptions were getting to quite a high level and I questioned value for money.

After getting no answers and finding there whole set up appearing to be an old Boys Club and swathed in inertia, I decided to opt out. (I felt quite young and I was in my early 50’s when I decided to quit).

I did say to one or two members who I respect, that if you guys can talk me back, go for it and convince me. Well it never happened.

This AGM or whatever, I found out by default. I was asked by senior employees of both CDSL and Electrolux if they were going to see me at the weekend at the DASA meeting. This was the 1st I knew about it. Crazy really, that would have been the opportunity to court me back; distance is no problem either as I have contacts and places to stay in the Nottingham areas.

The point is, unless they raise their profile, keep reminding us they are still there and importantly talk to us instead of about us, they may actually get more members.

Ostriches instead of Turkeys voting for an early Christmas I must assume.

What they fail to realise is though, this is a shrinking world. We now talk and are getting fewer. They are rapidly becoming “Billy-No-Mates” and it will all come back to bite them in the a55.

They will soon run out of options. I remember telling Dave Highton when I ditched Candy that I’m not doing an up yours, as “whoever you bruise on the way up, you are likely to meet them again on the way down”. Something all these work providers should sit up and take notice of.

Candy was a good case in point as when they were in trouble they kept trying to creep back. Had they not messed me about, they would have been able to call upon me again.

I must say though I never had any issues with GB Dar that I could not control, as soon as I saw the writing on the wall, I walked away and we parted amicably.

I sincerely hope you complete the call on the screen as wasted visit & claim a labour fee. If they pick it up, (which is unlikely) they may realise it costs them as well as you.

    Others?
    Kevin

BRANDT!! How did you know I was going to come up with that one?

    Regards L.G. I couldn’t agree more.

I think it would be good idea if any CDSL agents had dealings with L.G. in the past, either via the S.F. route or individually, that maybe they ought to sart thanking CDSL for “Managing” the account. Laying out what the accountacy issues really were and the problems endured, perhaps telling them the product and support is crap enough to deal with, but getting paid was far worse. I’m going to make a point of saying, “Thank God you guys are underwriting this account, but if we start getting historic rejections on the L.G. account, you will be losing an agent.”

So we have Brandt, and L.G. What else can we hit them with? I think 3 are enough, because if they get flak on 3 subjects over & above the rest, they may recognise there might be an issue.

Whilst on the subject, Quadruple the work-load? That is an increase of 400{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. What and where is this coming from? Unless they mean to increase the revenue by 400{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Not being a substantial workload increase, that is a different ball game.

I see Whirlpool has been suggested, would they accept CDSL handling all the parts. And are they that big.

Food for thought; Phil will like this one. Comet told E/Lux that they were going to take ownership of all 1st year warranty repairs of Lux group products. Lux let them get away with it as they did not want to lose sales. We as agents had no say in this matter, and lost the work. Who’s to say this won’t happen again with Currys. Distriparts will still be able to supply the parts, but without having to give us the benefits we “enjoy”: such as 24 hour delivery, unused parts returns etc. All this costs them a bomb, and if they can remove some of this for the likes of CDSL, they will possibly go for it. also Paul Jones of Distriparts has a good rapport with CDSL.

To take this one stage further, Currys group can play the “poor service” card on S/Force as some centres currently have a service Delay.

We need to build a case I think, then sing in unison.

A farmer went to town to buy a pickup that he saw advertised in the paper for a certain price. After telling the salesman which pickup he wanted, they sat down to do the paperwork. The salesman handed the farmer the bill, and the farmer declared, “This isn’t the price I saw!”

The salesman went on to tell the wise old farmer how he was getting extras such as power brakes, power windows, special tyres etc. and that was what took the price up. The farmer needed the truck badly, paid the price and went home.

A few months later, the salesman called up the farmer and said, “My son is in 4-H at school and he needs a cow for a project. Do you have any for sale?”

The farmer said, “Yes, I have a few cows, and I would sell for £500.00 apiece. Come look at them and take your pick.”

The salesman said he and his son would be right out. After spending a few hours in the field checking out all the farmer’s cows, the two decided on one and the salesman proceeded to write out a cheque for
    £500.00.

The farmer said——–“Now, wait a minute, that’s not the final price of the cow. You’re getting extras with it and you have to pay for that too.”

    “What extras?” asked the salesman.

Below is the list the farmer gave the salesman for the final price of the cow……….

    BASIC COW………………………….£500.00
    Two tone exterior…………………….£45.00
    Extra stomach…………………………£75.00
    Product storing equipment………….£60.00
    Straw compartment…………………£120.00
    4 Spigots @£10 ea……………………£40.00
    Leather upholstery………………….£125.00
    Dual horns……………………………..£45.00
    Automatic fly swatter………………..£38.00
    Fertilizer attachment………………..£185.00

    GRAND TOTAL……………………..£1,233.00

    Sean, you are so right.

I would not let it get to 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, not even 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} I don’t trust them enough to allow them to call the tune to that extent.

To be honest, I could “Burn” them tomorrow. It would not be a sad loss, but I would mourn my customers that we, as a collective Service Force were unable to keep. Hence CDSL picking up the spoils, and we losing 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of our customer base, who unbeknown to them (the C/Plan customers) by taking the Coverplan route, were in effect losing the quality service. I don’t speak for the Whole of Service Force here, as there are some who do not perform, but that is not up for debate in this thread.

All I get out of CDSL is enough to cover the running of their work, I don’t make a healthy profit from that part of my business, it seems to be self financing, and that is it.

I like the idea of appearing to be a super agent with CDSL, and to have some form of control over them, but I’m a realist.

The bigger they are, the harder we fall, but the bigger we are, the harder they fall. I proved that with Merloni, they had to take on 3 engineers to replace what we covered, and they found it bloody hard.

We all know nobody is expendable.

    Re: CDSL

I have pondered where LG could go as well.

Service Force agents were used for a few years, then ISDA. After the end of the ISDA relationship, they went to D&G and tried to woo back service force. Neither wanted to know. I had LG on stop during the S.F. days, but hollow protest as they all came in through ISDA, at a reduced rate. At least I was assured payment though.

Problems mainly ocurred where LG refused to accept or recognise who had 5 year parts, who were 2 year labour etc. We would get a refusal on a call, no record of 5 year, yet some time previously we had carried out work on the same machine and been paid, with all the same details.

D&G calls where there were a 2 year plus parts was another nightmare. To compound things if you fitted a board, then they would steer the claim through technical to peruse before indenting payment. That could take a year. One department would always steer you to the other, and never take ownership.

Technical would give you a modification part number, yet it would not be on the system, therefore you could not order the part. No interdepartmental communication existed.

If and when an LG posting comes back into the open furums, I may well copy & paste some of the above and open it up a bit.

Now if they move over to NESN, or GB Dar, that would suit me just fine.

I have been tempted to tell Roy Fisher to stuff LG as well as Brandt, in effect get yourself another agent to cover the rubbish. I don’t want it. Maybe the answer is to steer the conversation around to both of these every time we contact CDSL, in that way they will get jarred off and perhaps listen.

One point which I find more than apparent, It seems to me the Northern Service manager may be a control freak. The postings I see regards Gary do not reflect the demeanor of Dave Parker. My observation is that Dave may well be a company man, but he has a good bedside manner.

The doobrey I feel is about to hit the fan with CDSL soon in any case, and we may be able to pounce if we can get the right strategy and timing. For now it may pay to keep this in this forum until we have “set out our stall”.

I told them L.G. was a potential porblem, but they knew better. Then we ALL told them Brandt were shite, again they chose to plough their own furrow. Comes of being greedy I suppose.

I’m in a position where I could still throw them away should I chose. The figure of 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the workload was bandied about regards the level of “Control”. I terminated Merloni at 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and survived. CDSL are about 12 to 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} but I am watching them. If they start giving problems, I will work on it.

    Del Said…They keep going round quoting this 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} which is probably nearer to 6{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}
as I havn’t come across anyone who has agreed to it yet.

They have made no mention of this to me yet.

Might be worth asking for Rudi’s take on the situation, as they appear to be starting to apply pressure to push this through.

Assuming he is an agent for them??

plus all the 18 month old rejections are worthy of a little more attention, might even be worth taking a staw poll to see how many others have recieved theirs yet. Perhaps it might be an idea to ask how many think that they would be paid for submitting an invoice 18 months after a job had been done.

That paragraph in itself makes me think. I know only too well from the past the problems with L.G. rejections coming out the woodwork 12 months down the line.

I’ve had a gut feeling for 12 months now regards the real story, and I might be right.

I will not be entertaining direct booking unless the money increases substantially, and we are allowed to source own without question.

Has any-one noticed that single back orders are now being charged postage, even if the part is put into another delivery that did not entail postage due to cost/volume.

They are beginning to screw us down, and by surrepticious means.

By the way, in case you hadn’t noticed, I’m back! but very busy so it is catch up time, and I must get on with it. Therefore may be quiet from me for a day or two, (Who said “that will be a change then?”)

    Ciao
