ParticipantRe: Hoover/Candy/GIAS Called Me Up…
Can we change the title to YET AGAIN.
Had a letter today from Tony Games, sent to an address we left 6 years ago and they spelt my name wrong.
I presume this went to ALL ex Candy agents. Dangerous move that was.
Goes on to say:-
Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, John Biddle as from 1st October 2005 becomes responsible for the day-to -day management of the GIAS authorised Service Agent Network.
Please confirm contact details to John Biddle via e-mail on………
The reinstatement of this function is long overdue and I appreciate your pateience in this matter.
O.K. I’ve got to ask.
1) What Service Agent Network? they phased us all out in 1999.
2) Since when has “management and Gias” been gramatically correct in the same sentence.
3) What is this guy going to do on the second day of this post when he realises there isn’t any such network of agents. Or better than that, “we have moved on, thank-you very kindly for your interest sir”.
4) Where did they recruit this post, and how come I missed it, must be the equivalent to 6 months holiday twice a year.
He will have to work hard if he is in place to re-open a dialogue with some of us. He can start with arranging the return of my stock they left me with.

How about this then.
Was in Slovenia for the last few days an a damanding exercise regards Gorenje products. (Who said Jolly)
Sat around the same meal table as myself were 3 current DASA members.
None, I repeat NONE of these members were aware that an AGM had taken place in the last few weeks. 2 of this number were not aware that Chris Hayter was no longer there. The other person, (the one that knew C.H. had gone), has a regular contact with a senior DASA officer who has access to the forums. That officer had never told him or advised him there was a meeting, and worringly had not let him know the existance of UKW.
What does that tell you? Considering the low membership, the remaining few were not advised of:
1: The Crisis within DASA
2: The forthcoming, now passed AGM meeting.
3: The existance of UKW, possibly frightened that the membership who are unaware of us, being the majority of those who are still there. Therefore ignorance is bliss, do not make waves etc. in case people see the real light?
Would be interesting to do a head count of the present DASA list and see how many are members of UKW. Bearing in mind these 3 didn’t know of us.
Well there are a few more prospective members of UKW out there now and I passed on the details to some interested parties from different parts of the country.
I’ll leave you to ponder that one.

1st 2 that came to mind.
I know the latter of the 2 was in the Monkees, but a good video nonetheless, and considering the date of production. Very similar to Sledgehammer, and pre-dated Mr Gabriel by a good 10 years.

County Court, small claims. They have committed an offence under the theft act section 3.
You can do it on line, will cost about £30 which you get back, and they have no defence.
The last one I had, I called in the bailiffs as he still didn’t pay up. They repossesed his car. All because a cheque bounced for £177. With the court costs etc, it was a hell of a lot more.
If you use a body like the Bureau of Credit Management, they have a good official letter that scares most defaulters into paying up. There is a lot of info on them within this site, but it happens to be in the subscriber forum.
There was a card number on the rear of the above, but it was only good for cheques up to £100. If it is a bouncer, and only just over the limit, the bank will still refuse the whole amount. I mistakenly thought that I was always guaranteed the 1st £100.

ParticipantRe: The Future Of DASA
Martin, from an outsider you are spot on.
I would be happy to pay my £250 and rejoin DASA, I see no issue with having a foot in both camps. However, read on…………
There is a big but, and that is CDSL. They seem to have a controlling share in the organisation. Not only by co-opting a member of CDSL management onto the council, but by the high level of CDSL members who happen to be part of the DASA membership.
Problem is for my sins, I also do work for CDSL, and for that reason I’m rather reluctant to get my cheque book out. I will in effect make the balance even worse. Unlike some other members of this site, I don’t seem to “enjoy” the problems that seem to ride on the back of CDSL, but like Ken, I have a good memory, and a Leopard does not change it’s spots. I read the posts, and remember the past, and think, “there for the grace of God, go I”
To be honest the posts that have been made regards That Lot the other Lot etc. make it even less a probability that I belong within both UKW and DASA. I like to stick to my convictions and principles, and there is no way I can be a representative of both sides of the equation.
Therefore, I owe my alliegence to UKW, and until there is clear evidence of impartiality within DASA, and moreover the bickering stops, I will stay as I am. The Scottishness needs to be extracted from DASA. (Ken, don’t take offence).
Shame really as I was a member for a good 10 years plus. Maybe I should take some responsibility as I was the guy who penned “Is it all worth it” in the DASA forum. There again, perhaps DASA should take some responsibility for their failings.
Could someone from DASA please sit up & take notice, I speak for many others, it is simply that I am the one who tells it like it is.
I may well post this in the same open forum that has been regailing in this very topic, but for now I will keep it here.

Never mind Martin.
I thought I’d sent it to you as an e-mail on the day I originally posted that one.
Some people missed it 1st time, so a little trip down memory lane won’t go amiss. Also it is a blinder and well worth seeing again.
As today is Trafalgar day, don’t forget this one. I posted it ages ago and it has been reposted since by someone else.

ParticipantRe: can i get any money off them??
You send each customer the invoice, explain the situation and they are to pay you. Advise them that they then send the receipted invoice to Endeva with instructions to pass on to the administrator.
You may have to send a reminder, or even a debt collection letter. I done this with one similar company and every customer paid in full. Took about 2 years to clear it, but was worth the effort.

Need some time first. Have lost one out of the office and 1 engineer will be off for 10 weeks following surgery.
Would love to, but in reality, not a hope in the forseeable future I suspect.

Mr P to me is charm personified, he can’t do enough.
He asked me to supply details of all invoices where they have charged on back-ordered small deliveries. ther were a few, and they are still coming.
I’ve had write offs where I’ve been allowed to keep the parts on the job, I had to invoice seperately, but all settled.
All this won’t last i’m sure, but I’m more than happy to string them along.

As per the above post. Now is the time for DASA to enlighten us and keep us in the picture.
I heard today that there are some radical changes taking place, in particular to the constitution and the fees. From what I can gather it looks like good news. Looks like they may well be re-inventing the wheel.
The membership is somewhere around the 70 mark, hardly a representation of the industry, and certainly not a number to keep credence and respect regards staying a recognisable association.
Therefore something drastic must be put in place to encourage new faces, and importantly to call back into the fold some of the membership who has felt fit to drift away.
The last AGM meeting I attended in York, was very well subscribed, and indeed very passionate and forthright. It was said by more than one person that it was the livliest and best meeting that DASA had for many years.
What went wrong? Among other things they failed to convince us regards value for money, and a lot of us voted with our feet.
One thing DASA need to do is to work with UKW, accept we are here to stay, we have our station in life, and by God DASA have theirs. We need to work together to make it work or DASA will die on the vine. Some of the DASA membership may have opionated ideas about UKW but they have to accept reality. This is why I said they need to talk to us and not about us.
I am very surprised that no senior members of DASA who grace this forum, and there are a few, have not thought about passing on some of the new ideas at least. Strike whilst the iron is hot and show us you have the will and fire that is damn well needed in your organisation.
In the Words of the Chairman of Norwich City F.C. (Delia) WHERE ARE YOU?
I can only speak for some of us, but we are here! The floor is yours……
