Re: Where to buy a new dishwasher?

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for the reply — definitely good advice.

We’re looking at something like the Neff S51M53X0. We haven’t fully decided yet; and it also seems that no two stores we go into ever have the exact same models. I’m a bit surprised that dishwasher manufacturers have so many models and have been wondering if they simply renumber for different retailers to prevent direct price comparisons.

Any thoughts on the model would definitely be appreciated. We don’t want to spend enough for a Miele. Bosch and Neff seemed to have the best reputations for quality and be in the right price bracket. The Neffs we saw seemed to have a nice layout.

    Thanks again,
    Antony

Thanks. I only need the 90 degrees at one end — I just rechecked the shop and realised that the hoses there do have the bend (didn’t look properly last time).

    Cheers.

Thanks. I checked the images and this looks like the right one; and if it’s not I’ll be posting next weekend trying to work out how to change the base ;-).

Yep – the door springs are definitely broken and the door has fallen down heavily many times – so that sounds like it. As you say, I don’t fancy doing that one myself, so I guess I’ll need to get someone in.

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hi,

We did rotate it through 90 degrees (the picture was taken after it was rotated). I was then expecting to pull it out from above (i.e. into the inside of the dishwasher), but this doesn’t seem to work since the base of the sensor is a circle but the hole is only big enough for the wings and the probe.

From what you say it sounds like I should be trying to take out the sensor from underneath. Is that correct?

If so, how do I access the underneath? I’m guessing I have to take the dishwasher out, turn it on its side, and remove the metal plate covering the bottom? Is that correct or is there an easier way?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

The NTC arrived today, but we’re having some troubles changing the part because we can’t get the old one out!

Looking at the casing we don’t understand how the NTC sensor can be removed without removing the sump. Basically the base of the sensor is the wrong shape to come through the hole in the sump. Please see the picture here to see the situation.

    So it looks like either:
    — We need to remove the sump to change the NTC sensor.
    — We are missing something.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks!

Great. I’ll order the part and give it a go (watching my hands).

    Thanks.

Many thanks for the diagnosis Penguin!

I’ve never replaced a sensor on a dishwasher before — but I’ve located the existing sensor and looking at the picture you posted it looks like I should be able to do it myself.

    Looks like the steps are:
    1. Turn off the power circuit.
    2. Twist the existing sensor 90 degrees to unlock it.
    3. Pull the sensor out.
    4. Connect the new sensor to the wire.
    5. Put the new sensor in and turn 90 degrees to lock in.

One question – in the picture the base looks larger than the sensor and so I’m not sure if I can remove the sensor in this way. Do I have to remove the whole sump casing?

I understand that you can’t guarantee anything here, but just want to check if there’s some basic pitfall you can see.

    Thanks again.

Re: Please help – unknown fault with Tecnik tkd795 dishwashe

    Hi,

Tried again. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern to the flashes, the frequency of the flashes is perfectly regular, we observed for about a minute and there wasn’t a pause at any point. There are 17-18 flashes in 10 seconds.

One note – we set the 65 degree cycle, but when the beeping started and we opened the dishwasher it showed the pre-wash cycle selected. Is this a diagnostic indicator?

    Many thanks for your help.
