Sparkey
It is true
The manufacturers are keeping their own work. I cannot see anything wrong with them calling us in times of trouble to help them out, but this never happens. One particular manufacturer is six weeks behind even with franchises from what I have been told by an engineer.
Who will stand waiting six weeks for someone to go out and repair a washing machine, with washing from the floor to the ceiling and four kids to keep clean. My missus will not stand for that, even though we have one child and that is hard enough!

Where we are there is nothing like it in our area except TRANSCO for the gas side of things. We have thoroughly looked into it, you can only get recorded messages or an answer phone message from the people who advertise in the yellow Pages for a “24 hour service”
How can an answer phone or recorded message be a 24 Hour Service?
It’s worth a try and at the moment it is doing well. We have had a few calls for washing machines at 03:00 in the morning but we tell them at the moment it is only for Gas and Refrigeration. We are charging £79.00 + vat for emergency call out + parts and this week alone have had 12 calls. Engineers are on rotary basis and the phone gets diverted straight to their mobile phones. The only problem I have is making sure we fall into EU Regs on working hours, how many hours they have worked and when they can work again after emergency call out calls. All of our calls are logged, so I know we have recieved that call.
K, try it, what have you got to loose. If you are charging the correct amount to cover everything, what are you missing out on. We started out on saying to customers we do out of hour calls as customers have family and work commitments and it has worked from there.
The biggest Question is, can or will the engineer be willing to take the responsibility of going out that early in the morning or dropping everything to go out to an emergency call??????
I will keep you posted on progress.

ParticipantRe: ariston AVD 149 fault code F-02
Hi Valerie
F02 according to my info means either a fault with the motor/motor tacho or the module triac has failed. It could be either at fault. The best bet would be to call out an engineer to find out which is at fault. Either part would cost around the £90.00 mark. Merloni use to have a 5year parts on all Ariston if you registered your date of purchase.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi Kwatt
I am more than willing to stump up. 😀
When, were, how much, what? 😉 Just let me know and a cheque will be in the post.
Haven’t been on the site much lately as we have just started 24hr callout for gas and refrigeration. Everything is a bit mad at the moment
If you could let me know about meeting/get together and I will try and make it. The thought of a pint sounds like a good idea, especially if your paying 😀 😉 😆

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!
Hi Guys
Merloni are paying their franchises £1.00 more than two years ago. In-guarantee rate is £16 something as I was told by our EX APG engineer who was poached from us by a District Manager from Merloni 👿
What a shame, because What Comes Around, Goes Around. They gained one franchise engineer but lost three good engineers from our company who could complete more work than one poached engineer (i must admit, i was gutted to see him go as i spent every hour of the day training him up. What a big disappointment)

ParticipantRe: Indesit W103 – Eight flash fault
😯 What a shame for the old Indesit machine. If anyone needs spares for Indesit and Ariston, they are going cheap. Parts never used and still boxed in original boxes. Genuin spares only, no pattern parts. 😀
We have lots of W83UK, W93UK, W103UK, W123UK modules and selectors, elements, CNT/NTC’s and temperature sensors, washer dryer fans and motors, door asseys and lots of 056014 motors which fit Haire and MFI dishwashers (AHY8122 if I remember correctly) and some Eeproms. Many standard modules in stock.
Bearing casts (larger bearings and smaller bearings) bearings for plastic tank models, plastic tanks, inner drums for certain modelsAll parts sent by Royal Mail.
THE LIST GOES ON. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. 😥

You can match it with the same cutout as the one fitted to the Smeg A1.1 range cooker (onlyif it is coloured blue) 😯

ParticipantRe: Merloni Polystyrene??
When we were a franchise, they said it was to stop moisture/condensation building up/on the inside of the machine and around the control module. We could not see this working as it was always the plastic tanks leaking onto the motor, blowing the modules and eeprom. 😥
Still, around six months time you will get another callout if the polystyrene is left in place, as the front polystyrene lugs wear away and rubs against the casing. This causes such a horrible noise, especially if the machine is on wooden flooring. 😆

ParticipantRe: Bernstein!
AS I understand it, The new company has it’s own engineers and we are possibly clearing up old calls for them. Nothing will kick off until next week as their system goes live. This was what I was told today when I phoned their administrator about an out standing job that requires parts.
It does seem to be coming together as yesterday we had 8 calls faxed over. This could be the start of a beautifulllllll thing.APG
ParticipantRe: Europe.
I don’t think it’s the 5 pence piece you have to worry about disappearing, it’s the one pound coins I would miss. Shane, you need to educate your customers more by telling them to take out the short change and leave in the large. Friday the 13th of February, blinding day, pulled out £12 from one machine. The customers husband said keep it as a tip due to being honest as he will take it out of his wifes house keeping. What a nice bloke! 😀

ParticipantRe: Bernstein!
Yet another company gone under. so far we have delt with three companies which has gone under within the last two years. This has hit us quite hard but our heads are above the water line as I am going out Monday to Saturday to do 14 calls a day aswell as 3 engineers going to 10-12 calls each day. We are still doing work of the named company but work load has dropped off (probably because we wanted a higher rate to repair their machines), to which I have found out since, they are paying us now the same rate as the rest of their contractors.
All previous invoices were sent to the receivers but not heard anything as yet and Oh, Yes, our parts were quantered on a monthly basis aswell, so we really did loose out.
Notes taken:
Invoice daily, Send by registered Post so we can keep tabs on the invoices and when they were signed for, 30 day net will be 30 day net or you go on hold until all invoices paid for and up to date.We have learnt a lesson from all this and now all companies who want us to become an agent for them are all credit checked and checked at Company House.
If anyone out there can answer this, here is just a quick question; Did Bernsteins go skint due to selling machines at a good price to customers and also paying us a reasonable rate to go out and repair the appliances when they went wrong? 😯 😥 👿 😕

Participantpoor payment and no payment
😥 after sending invoices to jtm before deadline, payment was very patchy. told them to keep the cheque as it would cost more to pay into the bank.
All powerhouse policies we are now completing as “pay and claim” but customers not very happy, as powerhouse shops are saying to customers their policies are ok, even ones starting with EXE and EXU. Not a chance to take what with the current situation! 😥 -
