ParticipantRe: The 0800 Thread
not been on the site for a while Ken but what I have just read in this thread, IMO, it had got out of hand. Still, I am plodding on in the industry still but sitting on the fence as per usual. How are you?

My God. I cannot believe what has been going on!!!!! Has this topic gone too far with the remarks, spitefullness and childish behavour. The industry is hard enough at the moment so why dont you all shut up, get on with running your own companies, business or franchises and earn your money. I could not give a monkeys about what has gone on with the certain engineer in the picture, what he done was his problem and has to be delt with accordingly in the right way with the right people involved. Sorry guys, this site is not what it’s all about and I am discusted with all of your behavour, wordings and remarks. If people were not too interested in other peoples businesses, then maybe the industry would be working closer together to make it better for us all. Enough said.

Sounds like either the live wire or neutral wiring to the connector block is not tight or a link is missing from the connector block

ParticipantRe: rangemaster sxs fridge
Hi
This model is DXD910 and it is made by Haire.
It has two door openers for the fridge left & right and two pullout drawes for the freezer compartmentIt could be one of the following parts:
0064001224 Ice Maker – (if it has defrost element on the underside of the ice maker body)
0060815377 Finned evaporator – comes with defrost element
0064000965 E-Damper for refrigerator Vent – can jam and get hot
You may need to check the door wires which go throught the top left hinge bracket as they can rub and chaf on the metal work when the door is opened to the fridge. If this has happened, a new door is required but make sure you order the correct one as the connector blocks are different
This is a very simple unit to work on and not had much problems apart from the odd compressor and plastic parts breaking.APG
ParticipantRe: 0800 Repair
I wonder how much fuel and money they would save if they took the screwdriver off the roof. I think it would be a good idea if they replaced the screwdriver for one of those coffin boxes you can purchase from Halfords. At least you could carry more spares for first time fix aswell as waiting 9 months for your money. I dropped these along time ago. Seems funny how you can re-brand a company with the same staff and work habbits. I know about clever marketing and all that to sell a company, but I would feel a right prat turning up to a customers house in the van with the baseball cap on. I’d rather park it up the next road and walk to the customers house (on a windy day) so the cap goes missing. OMG and good luck to all of you doing JTM/0800 work, You’ll need it. Good luck to all of you 0800 guys and girls and hope you can make it work (no sarcasm intended)

ParticipantRe: very shocking
Nothing like under writing the debt of spare parts for the national work providers by over charging you for parts in the first place just to gain control for repairs also. :whip:
Do you all think this is right or wrong????
Bout time we all took a stance and only work for manufacturers and get back the chargeable work. Things are very, very quiet at the moment

ParticipantRe: WEEE – Eleventh hour!
So
You sell a machine to your customer and have been asked to take the old one away for scrap.
What if the customer has a second scrap appliance in her garden to which he/she also wants you to take away?
According to WEEE, you cannot have serplus machines but this way you can!
According to Essex County Council you also cannot have serplus machines.
How many independent service companies or engineers have licenced their vans/companies to carry waste/scrap?Ken, if we can get hold of surplus machines, what was your tonnage required for ISE and was the tonnage yearly or monthly? I remember John saying get a registered scrap dealer in to take away the scrap appliances and they give you paperwork which John said to forward onto him so he can meet the tonnage required by ISE LTD
I use to have a scrap man come round and pick up our scrap up until two weeks ago. When I saw him, I asked to see his copy of his trading licence as he said he was a registered scrap dealer. Quite funny this, I have not seen him since and the scrap is building up in our building. 😮
