ParticipantRe: Should I refund the money.
Thanks for all the replies on this awkward situation.
I did ask to see the other engineers invoice which was made avalible to me.I investigated it and found it full of holes ie out of date phone numbers, unrealistic labour charge and a dubious voice at the end of the phone as though he knew what he had to say.
My guess is he`s had a mate draw something up but theres nothing i can do about it.To prove it would be near impossible and for the sake of an hours labour it aint worth the aggro which i fear would be coming to my door if he doesnt get his money.
So cheque sent and lesson learned……….sod `em. 😀

Don`t get me wrong bazza,i`m not trying to wiggle out of my responsibilities and morally ,of cause, your right.
I`m just annoyed that they won`t let me back to have another look and got somebody else instead.
It annoys me that i`ve screwed up and can`t go back to put things right.I`ve sent a cheque today. 😳 .

ParticipantRe: Laptops.
Thanks for the advice guys.
My main aim would be to have easier access to manuals and parts info and to log my call infomation.
How would you print out invoices for customers and whats the best laptops avalible. It would have to have wireless capability and be reasonably priced.
Will also look at the`hand helds` that have been mentioned.

ParticipantRe: Buying Property.
If she buys well ie right area and right property, she`ll be fine.
Property purchase is usually long term so any differential in market performance will right itself eventually.
If shes in it for the short term then maybe buying a property to improve and sell on might be a better idea.
As for negative equity, personally I think she would have to be very unlucky to get to that stage providing she does her homework.
Please don`t consider this reply in anyway a professional view.

ParticipantRe: They started taking it apart
The other side of this thread is when they don`t tell you they`ve had a go and potentionly it could be fatel.
Had one today,Whirlpool washer/drier.
Water flooding from dispenser, soap powder blockage the like you`ve never seen.Managed to move it eventually and then tested it as you do.
What he did`nt tell me was that he could`nt be arsed to wait till after Christmas for me and had checked the water valves to see if there was a problem there 😕 but had failed to tighten the screws on refitting!!.
It never ceases to amaze me how much water can be dispensed in about 5 seconds. 8O.
Very scarey.

ParticipantRe: They started taking it apart
Maybe in some cases it might be easy to put things right but I`ve had some horrors.
It basically boils down to time,in an average day with 8 to 10 calls have I really got time to put the programmer back and then the wiring hopefully correctly then fit back this and that and then start the process of fault finding.
Personally,I get scared if the husband has decided to have a go and then finds he`s way out his depth.
I`ve had plug tops wired with earth to live, machines turned upside down with tub weights smashing switch selectors or worse, half secured sump hoses…………its scarey. 😆
