ParticipantRe: Crackling noise from Hotpoint Ultima DWF70
OK thanks.
It sounded like it was underneath.
Decided to get a new machine as we were left it when we moved into the house so did not know it’s history, and the plastic front panel beneath the door was fixed into alternative holes, suggesting it may have been removed before………….clive45

Whoops – sorry for the mistake(s) there. I’m not an electrician and it was some time since I repaired mine…………

Mine was the thermal fuse, which if memory serves is what was shown in the photo. It is in the sheath – that covers it and it’s push connections to keep them safe.
If that is what is your problem (and ours went twice) you can get them at Maplins for about 40p, so worth a try. You need to take the old one with you as it has a number on it which they should be able to match up as it tells the shop the resitance of the fuse.
The concrete is a balance weight so leave it alone. P shaped piece could be part of the blower – that may have a lot of lint in it that might need cleaning out (which if the fuse has gone could be the cause of it overheating and blowing the fuse in the first place) You can take that apart if you are up to it – it ain’t difficult just need socket set and screwdrivers and a little time and patience.I’d need to take the top off mine to recall it all again.
good luck

ParticipantRe: Ariston AWD 12 water leak
Took it apart and found some limescale where the top and bottom meet. Cleaned it all up and it seems to have cured the leak.
Thank you for the advice.clive45
ParticipantRe: Ariston AWD 12 water leak
I tried a fill with the drawer out and the water comes out strongly from all the holes – some at an angle though. The water is dripping out by a clip which holds the top part of the dispenser to the bottom. It is at the rear where the dispenser narrows to become the water supply channel. Only does it when filling.
Do I take it apart now? Anything to watch out for? Seals? Should I use a sealant when re-assembling?
Thank youclive45

Yes you were right – I spent a large part of the weekend trying to get the wire clip back on. Rubbish design in my view. The local repairman sorted this out for £35 with long nosed pliers. Money well spent even though it only took him 10 mins!
You live and learn – sometimes.clive45

ParticipantRe: Ariston AWD12 door seal replacement
Where do I start from? Am I looking for a clip or screws to remove and if so where please? Do I then just pull it off the drum and then the outside?
Do I need to remove the door lock to access anything?Clive

Thanks for this Jim.
Can you give any info on where to look to release the seal? Is there a lot of dismantaling involved to get at it? Do I have to put the machine on it’s side to do the job?

Hi
picked up on this very useful site after our AWD12 did exactly the same today. Had a bit of an advantage because it did it before about 18 months ago. Still had the engineers bill which said he replaced the thermal fuse, but did not know what/where it was hiding.
Photo above made it all very easy! -
