    try this
    an extract from http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/book/6.5.2

    The Electricians Guide

more information on loading factors at web site, cable size dependant on loading

    ———————————————————
    6.5.2 – Cooker circuits

A cooker is regarded as a piece of fixed equipment unless it is a small table-mounted type fed from a plug by a flexible cord. Such equipment must be under the control of a local switch, usually in the form of a cooker control unit. This switch may control two cookers, provided both are within 2 m of it. In many cases this control unit incorporates a socket outlet, although often such a socket is not in the safest position for use to supply portable appliances, whose flexible cords may be burned by the hotplates. It is often considered safer to control the cooker with a switch and to provide a separate socket circuit. The protective device is often the most highly rated in a’) installation, particularly in a domestic situation, so there is a need to ensure that diversity has been properly calculated (see Table {6.2}).

The diversity applicable to the current demand for a cooker is shown in {Table 6.2} as 10 A plus 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the remainder of the total connected load, plus 5 A if the control unit includes a socket outlet. A little thought will show that whilst this calculation will give satisfactory results under most circumstances, there is a danger of triggering the protective device under some circumstances. For example, at Christmas it is quite likely that both ovens, all four hotplates and a 3 kW kettle could he simultaneously connected. Just imagine the chaos which a blown fuse would cause! This alone is a very good reason for being generous with cable and protective ratings.

Just an update on this repair

Stat 42th9/J5 that Dave quoted will fit but is is a tight fit, you have to
bend teminals on stat slightly and also tags to ensure they are insulated
from ajoining alarm motor and top ovenstat.

another classic cooker saved from the tip

    my client is very happy

    Re: http://WWW.advertising???

just an update on this subject, after having great difficulty in getting over what NO meant to this sales person, ( very persisitant 5 calls to my mobile and very obliging in knocking the Vat off if he could secure a deal, complete with my credit card details)

I thought I would follow his up boosts about how this website had gone through the ricter scale down in the Essex area over the last 4 years. By providing shed loads of work in my disapline??

a couple of emails to some subscribers on 18 month advertising contracts
    were well worth the effort.

in a nutshell “a total waste of cash” no calls in 15month and 2 calls in 17 months.

so its comming to you in your area..very plusable sales talk, backed up with a mass of data relating to advertising nationally, ( although I have yet to see any) that does not stack up, although if you take the TV times, you might spot an advert or 2 this very week.( so I am told)

best advise..check out their boosts with subcribers first. Or better still put the fee into a holiday in the sun. More importantly run off terms & conditions and see were you money might go, and how it is controlled by others.

    Re: Animal damage

last year I removed a hpt d/w for repair in the workshop, it sat side by side to its sister w/m,whilst moving from under the worktop, my client said look out for the hamster, as it went behind last week but never returned.

Thinking no more about the lost hampster, I left the d/w in the van for a couple of days. I got into the van mid week to this obnocious smell, I thought I had left a stale sandwhich under the seat or something.

Not being able to trace the smell, I put up with it by opening the windows.

I started to remove the d/w mid morning and to my horror there “zapped” to the capacitor was one well done hamster, complete with additional maggot infestation. ( the smell)

Up on returning repaired d/w I informed my client that the hamster had a good send off, in an asda bag. He was planning to break the news to the kids gently, via the dangers of messing around with electricity!

    Re: DELONGHI RANGE COOKER

Just an update on this problem.

received the correct part and its contents, replacement switch comes complete with a modified wiring harness.

You need to remove all of the connections from the old control switch, so a total strip down of the cooker is required, including the very sharp edges on the 6 gas ring area S/S cover.

Wiring diagram is fine and the new harness is pre measured as if direct from factory assembly line.

its a slow process to re-install, I lost a shed load on labour cost, but lesson learnt. I would be very interested to see what cost De-longhi would charge for this repair.
