guys many thanks for your input.
Looks to me as the appliance is less than 3 years old. a call to peterborough is needed it would be more cost effective to my client.

the mod is fed direct from the on/off switch, as no lights are showing on programme selection, can we say mod is dud
if so is it cheaper to get hotpoint under 5yr warrenty or for me to supply and fit.
idea of mod cost would help
many thanks

ParticipantRe: Insulation testers
hold on to your cash
ebay is the place.. search under test intruments or type in megger/insulation tester in search.
save a wad of notes..make sure you get a branded bit of kit. robin/Megger/RS etc.you will have to sign up to ebay to bid or get a ebayer to do it on your behalf.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi built under double oven
metal brackets is one method of fixing, although a solid floor is more suitable and easier to get level..brackets are fine when installing kitchen from scratch.
good luck

martin
many thanks..confirms my local guys quote
catch 22 situation on this one I already an hour in labour on the dryer finding the problem , second visit will be the same.
so 2 hours labour plus mark up on spares..plus what ever time it takes to get the parts.. so job might be done in a week.
so we have a 3 figure repair on a not too expensive product.
How can Hoover justify the cost of a metal plate and a bit of plastic at a retail of £110 plus, based on the original cost of the appliance.
Rip off britain – I would say so.
My client will never accept the cost of the repair is going to be nearly two thirds the cost of the appliance.
yet another bit of whitesteel to the tip, I suspect
I wonder what hoovers responce might be on an appliance of this age, I wonder do they have a 5year on parts!!!
thanks

many thanks 2 points first and apoligise from not responding to your email, but i only returned from holiday last weekend. Yes a fiver a month seems very good value to me, as in the short time I have been using UKW, i have save that in labour cost with information received..so send me what ever I need and I will get you my subscription sent.
right second point this Ariston. The fault on the PCB is an unsual one, as it was about to go up in flames, and the tracking on the board is most certainaly cause by high temp from 3 resistors.
Call out was because drum was constantly filling up, so you first port of call is the pressure system..to add to the over fill the machine would not drain for more than 25secs, pump voltage dropped down to 29volts, programmer rotating clockwise indicating problems with drain pump.
Whilst this is all happening over a 20 min period, a smell of burning was present, then smoke was rising at a fair rate from mod housing.
so are we sure the motor has blown mod, or is it the high temp problem..
Do I fit new mod and hope motor is OK?
or will EMW have a more pin pointed reason for the problem. Or has anyone else had a similar problem.
Their contact number would be appreciated.
thanks for your time and help on this matter

ParticipantRe: Creda 17076 washer
thanks guys..yes did try small wire connection to attempt repair..circuit test s ok but no joy in sovling problem..voltage still very variable..more than visible evidance of time fault maybe!
as 3 of us seem to think it was either the pump or door interlock that as caused the problem. I will treat her indoors to a new timer, it is still cheaper than a new machine. Will let you know if it goes POP
many thanks for your knowledge
