There’s another way to tell with these.
On the 2040 all 7 knobs are the same, on the 4040 the gas knobs for the 4 burners differ to the oven and large left hand burner.
If you get the customer to check by pulling them off and see if they fit (they all look the same but the shaft size differs) 🙂

It sounds like the usual cooling fan control problem, if you go to the search here:
and search for “8996619267611” (without the quotes), there’s loads of info on this fault.
8996619267611 is the part number of the part that is usually the cause of it, you can find that here:
Power off please if checking yourself or check the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂

Unless he’s employed someone recently, Tony has no “engineers”, it’s just him and occasionally his brother.
Where he gets the “we” sent…. 😕
Basically he went himself if you read the customer’s letter and is trying to pass the buck.
IMO anyway 🙂

Have you checked inside the right hand warming drawer (take it right out) ?
The model number is in there, it will be either 2040?? or 4040??
