    Re: broken whirlpool oven door

I’m assuming it’s just the outer glass required ?

As this is a stainless steel model it’s a bit expensive at £91.10 inc VAT plus postage.

    No need to apologise 😉

No it’s not a con (pricewise) it’s actually very cheap to be honest, which is why I was intertested in who was selling them at that price.

It is the wrong element though, the original is 2000W that one is 2500W. It’s what is is known as a “pattern” part, hence the price and the wrong wattage.

No need to alarm yourself though, nothing wrong with many pattern spares, even the extra 500W shouldn’t make a huge difference as the oven will be rated at 3000W.

Yes, if the dishwasher is connected to the sink trap, check there 😉

Failing that, it’s time to get an engineer out.

Foxy, which website did you get the element from ? MFI (Hygena) don’t sell spares via the internet and their list price is £26.99 plus VAT for that element.

    Just wondering.

I think you’re missing CJ’s point slightly Martin.

The manufacturer’s own employed engineers service may well be poor at times, but they will only move to Independants that have the neccassary qualifications and insurance.

What CJ means is how can we assure the public of our best intentions when you have the likes of poor Rob calling someone in good faith and then being given inaccurate and misinformed information.

Self regulation exists already for those of us with ethics and a conscience which those who use this site do I’m sure, but there are still some “cowboys” out there, although they are diminishing quickly as communication via sites like this and general word of mouth will soon either put them out of business or make them see the error of their ways.

    Re: Diplomat ADP 8224 dishwasher

If there’s no display at all the appliance is dead/no power.

I would check the leads around the motor as one has probably been knocked off while fitting the motor.

Apart from that, you may well need an engineer again.

    Re: Diplomat ADP 8224 dishwasher

When you say the control panel doesn’t work, how does it not work ?

No display at all, no response when buttons pushed ?

Check for wires pulled off when the motor was fitted etc. Did it actually need a motor in the first place ?

Please ensure the appliance is disconnected from the power supply when working on it.

    Hi Clive.

You’ll need to phone Smeg service on 0870 444 7002 to arrange for an engineer to call and check this out, there is a fault there by the sound of it. As it’s new, all work will be covered by the warranty as long as the appliance has been installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

When you say you contacted them direct Bob, did you phone them ?

I’ve tried the email approach with them and no-one reads them.

    Phone number is 0121 5011700

    Fax 0121 5503200

I think you’ll have difficulties getting spares elswhere for these to be honest.

Re: Looking for Oven Fan Motor for Proline EF6400SS

    It isn’t a Brandt.

It’s supplied by Bernstien, the fan motor looks like the usual Italian one though which should be easy enough, important info I’ll need to identify is the length of the shaft from the mounting plate to the threaded end where the fan fits.

Let me know that, I’ll be able to sort from there for you, it should be about £30 inc VAT and postage.

It’s most likely made by Brandt, I’ll check in the morning for a price direct from them.

Best bet though is as Penguin mentioned, email me a picture which we can upload, it will almost certainly be replaceable with a generic motor.

    Dave.
