ParticipantAs far as build quality and reliability go I am unable to comment, but as a personal opinion, due to the small price difference the Bosch would be the better option, because of it’s energy rating, which, in time should save you the extra expense on your ‘leccy bill.

ParticipantTim, here are some models I can find:
The closest match is the Bosch GTA37900 13.5 cu ft A rated
A couple of others are:
Zanussi ZFC146C 14.6 cu ft C rated
Whirlpool ARC5270 11.4 cu ft B ratedAs you say there aren’t many available these days as this is a low turnover product.
Hope this may be of some help though.

ParticipantPhil, that is horrific and most likely illegal as well.
They have never tried to pull a stunt on me like that, but if they ever had they would have been a distant memory, which I’m pleased to say will soon be the case after the recent fiasco.

I nearly did the same on Friday, but I wanted some time to consider several other points I have as well. Yes this includes shares, and no I don’t have more money than sense Mark 😉
The number of rejections comes down to the number of calls I guess, probably just a percentage thing if accountants have anything to do with it, but I guess they were like mine, mostly DSG installations.
I have this morning sent an email to Jo Loach informing them of my decision to put them on stop and why, which is not only the recent rejections but recent payment irregularies are also high up there.

ParticipantVery interesting to learn Comet are struggling, especialls as they nicked 2 engineers from me when they suddenly re-opened all their service centres. Serves the bastards right IMO.
None of these idiots will ever make it pay, they need us more than ever lately and they will all have to wake up to that fact sooner or later, and carry the burdon of the risk, after all they are the insurance company not us.

ParticipantIt’s quite amazing really, the third largest electrical retailer in the country, but still only a 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} market share.
It shows that the only way of profit making by selling cheap appliances is massive volumes, and extended warranties.
This of course is not true of the service industry, where work volume does not neccessarily mean profit, in fact the opposite in many cases.

As far as I’m concerned it is bollocks and you don’t get much further south than here, and talking to my counterparts in the SE they are pretty much of the same opinion, Ms Whelan, as you say is a person not to be trusted IMO.
Talking regional, does anyone know if NESN have agents on the Channel Isles ? It would be interesting to see what their rates are 😉

ParticipantNic Cooper the financial director STILL won’t return my calls after several emails and phone calls, why is the git never in his office, or is he ?
While on the phone to Louise this morning (trying to talk to Mr Cooper) I asked the question “apart from coverplan, what is the expected percentage payment going to be this month ?”
Get this, “untill we have notification of the total payments due from the audit team, we are unable to tell untill next week, and then it will depend on the funds available” 😯
Fuck that. I’m outta there.
Dave.
PS I thought I’d make my 100th post a goodie 😉

Why can they not simply give the punter our number?
K.They did ! She was an even bigger bitch than the one from Empire, no doubt the seeds were sown as usual that we are just lowly engineers and should bow and scrape to everyone’s shouting and then not expect any financial reward for our efforts.
Apparently she will tell her insurers that they should not use our services again due to our extremely poor service, you’ll have to excuse me while I pop out for the mansize tissues 😉

Participantkwatt wrote:As I was saying to Dave earlier though, there was no surprise in the voice at all it appeared as if it was a routine thing that they were on stop.
K.
This may also explain the frankly fucking awful attitude of some of the retailers lately, we had one bitch yesterday from Empire Commercial who I eventually told to go away in no uncertain terms because of her accusations that I did not know how to run my own business, I ask you 24 hours, no contact and the customer was out all day anyway. 😡

Participantkwatt wrote:I was told a few weeks ago about one of our fellow repairers that charge a sundries charge for calling mobile phones
I’ve been doing this for a while now, or perhaps it’s me you’re refering to 😉
Chargeable customers are told when they book the call that we will not contact them on their mobiles to give the usual 20-30 mins notification before arrival unless they accept the surcharge. Mostly they are agreeable. The worst offenders are work providers who take a mobile number ONLY, even when the customer will almost certainly have a landline/work number as well, then there is no contact options apart from SMS messaging. The charge is then passed back to the work provider.
The problem ultimately though is the mobile networks excessive charges to the landline operators, which has recently been reduced by the Competition Commision, but not enough in my humble opinion.

Don’t worry, I was just curious that he was invited, or even wanted to attend, yet another hidden agenda I expect, but one which could work in our favour, eventually, possibly 😉
Thing is though if NESN go suddenly, they will want something in place PDQ, or even beforehand, and what with the current climate 😈
