Googling this phone number (02476 378 330) shows that it is for Tritons UK Customer Service Team and they do indeed even have a Shower Replacement Service – https://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/help-and-support/after-sales/shower-replacement-service.

The email starts with the text:
We’re contacting you because we believe you may have a Aspirante 8.5 Gloss White electric shower.
We do in fact have that exact model, they will know about it as I registered the warranty with them 7 years ago.

Going back to the original question, can anyone advise whether £199 fitted is worth it for a 7 year old shower, or should the original item be expected to give plenty more life?

    Cheers

Our last shower ( Wickes 10k made by Triton lasted twice that one). Daughters 8.5 Miami is 12+ and now needs a PRD. Only problem changing shower is IF you uprate without considering the cable size and breaker/fuse.
something I discovered recently is that some showers have an in line filter.

Martin, going OT, ( from oven fixing) ,in our house it’s a case of Jocks and Smoggies. However my Smoggie can make a lovely Mutton pie ( AKA SCOTCH pie, ), and I attend to the Puds, so all is well . With Puds, they’re like like southerners, they turn out best when they’ve been given a decent battering.

Martin, despite coming from the North Riding, Swimbo cannot get Yorkshire puds to rise, so I get that task. But of late ,till element went bang, I noticed that those on the lower shelves cooked faster ( though uneven) ,than those higher up, and the element gave out at the top of it’s circle. Certainly not down to uneven mix as I treat the mix as a football supporter from the wrong end of Glasgow.i.e it gets well battered. 😈

My reward was a fruit cake ( is she telling me something?) today, and it was perfect. Oven is level both ways, so I’d suggest that last element on way out was a possible fault. Now for the Xmas cakes.

SITE- thanks for all the help- parts arrived yesterday, and oven is now working again.Just in time for the annual Xmas cake rush. Swimbo is relieved as she does not have to use the convection function on the microwave. Bouquets to the ones who helped me get it working ,and also to the parts blokes who found and sent out the parts.
One problem however- in the past ,despite the oven being level and true , cakes do tend to rise unevenly. Any tips ?

Meant to add ( looking at safety thermostats item ) ,that everything else ( grill /display panel etc) still works and failure was after element etc tripped out RCD .

Re: What is this dirt and why does it keep reapearing

Might be on wrong tack, but our water company ( Severn Trent) blame a lot of black mould that appears in the soup trays on bacteria which only cause problems when in contact with air . We had a lot of problems with intake of soap powder & fabric conditioner( on last Zanussi), which needed the tray removing and cleaning and now on replacement Bosch with the inlet spray being blocked with this mould. We find a proprietary brand of washing machine cleaner used regularly halts this problem .

Thanks mate . Was looking at a Hotpoint, but as of now, out Kelvinator is still performing. Thinking of asking son to get us a repair contract on D & G , at staff rates .

    Re: Fridge freezer capacities

Is that nett or gross on the figures quoted my the makers ? And in practice , do the capacities for fast freeze add up to a realistic figure?
As said, why quote for gross /net capacity ?

Not being difficult, just looking for answers ( that blokes in trade can supply ,to another like minded pro in another ,similar field) ,and that the salesmen would not like to answer .
Our aim ,is to get specs on some ,frost free fridge/freezers , and have look round the sellers ,to see which she prefers , given the advice on what to look for. As I’ve said ,on other posts, I’ve always looked for an appliance that the repair trade seldom see in for repair.
    Any help appreciated .

As posted on the problem site, rumble got a whole lot worse ,so we’ve opted for this sites recommendation ,in silver , Bosch WVD245S3GB .For her ,it’s love at first sight. Hopefully ,the experts have come up with the goods again. Certainly seems a lot more robust than the Zanussi. Time will tell .

oh- and by registering we get two years n the guarantee. But then , son works for Dom & gen, so that’s perhaps a bit more saved .

    Re: Zanussi WJS1397

Today ,the rumble got a lot worse. So we decided that a repair might be throwing money away. I’ve seen the buying advice ,and looked at the silver version of the one which the site thinks is a decent machine(Bosch ,of course). I realise that a washer dryer is a compromise, but space is something we haven’t got.
Thanks for advice, but I’d suspect that the noise is an indication of problems to come. She has seen the Bosch ,and likes it. Hopefully , it’s another 10 + year love affair with her washer dryer .

    Re: Zanussi WJS1397

Thanks ,Bryan. Thing is that she’s set her heart on a new machine, but we;ve seen the difference in quality in a few years in the past.( We got one of the early Hotpoints ,which lasted. Daughter got a more up to date one on strength of how well mums had lasted, and paid the price). Problem is that the outer is now mottled ( anything white in this kitchen goes like that) ,and as it’s not nice to look at ,and it rumbles, she wants something new. Whether or not it’s collapsed , is debatable. It’s been noisy for some time. But I’d have to call someone in. Any idea ( just a suggestion) as to costs would be appreciated .

Now I’ve had a look at recommendations, and Bosch get a recommendation on here. Bosch WVD245S3GB is the silver version of WVD24520GB ( in white) . Seems to tick boxes. Any care to comment on which ( LG vs Bosch) is better of two .
