Re: DOMESTIC APPLIANCES LIFESPAN AND GLOBAL WARMING

This is all good stuff! But my original point is why is the trade not promoting this to customers when you’re out on job? I mean we all get it rammed down our throats everyday about energy wastage and our carbon footprint! And now the talk of being charged for the amount of waste we generate!

So let’s look at the bottom line! Yes modern machines are crap we all know this! Yes people are not prepared to pay high repair costs! But can you not see the light at the end of the tunnel? We are now getting to situation that the cost of living for most folk is getting out of hand as we are hit by tax after tax and to go out and spend £200 quid on a new machine becomes more difficult for your everyday Joe public to do! It can only be a good thing for the trade as people are now thinking about getting machines repaired! All this trade needs is for all the manufactures to be forced to raise the cost of machines in line with inflation and to be forced to admit that their manufacturing processes and responsibilities should be to insure a long life span of a machine and to keep that machine going for as long as possible to cut down on the amount of waste that is produced by the so call through away machine!

And as such we all have a responsibility of informing customers and manufactures that the figures for domestic appliances being scrapped and the amount of waste generated in this country by the so called through away machines is quite staggering! We as a trade need to take action to save the trade from the trade! And use every tool at our disposal

Thanks for that, I know all the reasons why they don’t last and that they are so cheep to purchase! And the parts are in general cheep and nasty and cost pennies to manufacture and cost the earth to replace! But as the old dear quite rightly pointed out!!! The manufactures really don’t care! And we all remember the good old days when machines you where going to where a good age and people spent money on them to keep them going, not just get rid of them!

I just cant understand why not one of the manufactures has jumped on the eco friendly lets safe the world band wagon and seen the light! Or know one has pointed it out to them!

to let you all know that the machine is now working, and to let every one in the trade know when you fix your own machine for your wife!!! dont bloody listen to them!! the silly mare only put the machine on the wrong program that took 121 minutes and then told me it ran all night, but on my return from work took her word for it and 90 quid later found out she is as stupid as she looks and me as well for blieving her in the first place,, so thanks any way guys 👿
