Re: pcb rip off or what

So basically we lack technology talanted go getters to set up a low cost assembly company making these from about 97 pence worth of materials, then sell them to engineers, I dont thinks so so is a company here in Britain who can turn them around repaired in 24 hrs, I object to the attitude of if you want one you will pay what we ask ‘cos we are the only ones with them well not for me buddy that aint how we got through 1939 to 1945 what man makes man can fix

    Re: necht cut out

It is definatly a ksd201 stat there are 2 of them at differant places on the element there is also what I assume is a thermistor up into the controller right on the bottm of the eash tank it looks as if it should be glued with some sort of thermal paste and it has come adrift, I am getting current to the element now but the power to the elment does’nt stay on very long but this might be becuase the tank water level in never that high any making progress

    Re: necht cut out

On further investigation it appears that the second thermal cut out breaks the neutral why they would do this is anyones guess I am going the bypass this and see if I get the element to work
I have bunged it in the freezer for the time being maybe it’ll reset

    Re: Panel stuck update

Panel came off easilly once thawed out, fan motor a 12volt unit
by the way, was gubbed, as was the foil covered heater on the panel not the L shaped one on the evaporator coil so new panel, which, was saturated on the bottom portion, how can polystyrene absorb water for god sake its used in life jackets, must be a porous variety

    Re: Panel stuck

OK so the whole interior plastic has to come out from the fridge compartment ?, when you say the evaporator assembly I am confused as I am mainly a commercial fridge engineer and removing a evap assy to me means a gas recoverery and de-soldering job! surely not ? and do you mean the defrost element or tape is integral with the evap assy looking at what pics I can get the fan seems to be attached to the back panel am I right ??
