ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express overfilling
Ah! Thanks! I didn’t know where the air chamber was and was imagining that the latest issues were something in addition to the leak.
Do I disconnect the thin rubber hose adjoining the sump hose and just clean out anything I find in the hose and the connection? Or is there more to removing the gunge?

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express overfilling
Things are getting worse.
I have put the wet washing from the failed wash into the machine to spin some of the water out of them but, with the machine set to ‘Spin’, it pumps out (I can hear water being removed) as it counts down from 11 minutes to 10, continues to pump out for another minute or so and then the time display jumps to 1 minute with five of the timeline blocks filled in. It stays like that for another minute without any pumping or spinning until the timeline is suddenly completed and the display shows -0-.
At no time is there any attempt to spin: the drum motor doesn’t start.
Any ideas on just what is happening would be welcome.

Correction! There is a hole in the door seal. Is the seal easy to replace?

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express overfilling
Thanks.
I’ve checked the grey door seal and can’t see a hole (and any hole would be quite large to let out water at the speed we’re seeing!).
Could you describe where the air chamber is, and how to check for gunge, and I’ll have a look.

ParticipantRe: White Knight 83AW won’t run
Thanks: that did it (though it was a little surprising that I didn’t get any sign of a click from the button).

Thanks.
[Goes off to check…]
The switch works and the light goes out.

That’s a pity.
We seem to have had a few things last not too long in the fridge so it looks like it might be time to get another. Any brands/models to look out for? The same size and configuration as the Beko would be useful (319 litre fridge, 101 litre freezer).

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1200 drum not turning
That did the trick : many thanks!
For anyone in a similar position, before removing the bolts, remove the clear plastic splash guard by cutting the plastic tie and then remove the earth wire and the adjacent rectangular connection block (squeeze the tabs in to allow its removal).
The motor hangs on four pegs and, once the two bolts in the rear two pegs have been removed, the motor slides along the pegs towards the back of the machine and then drops off. It’s heavy…
To make the job easier, I removed the rear panel. This provided more light on the motor and the bolts, though, as advised elsewhere, it’s best to undo the bolts with the machine leaning on its right side against something that isn’t going to move and on something non-slip: the rear panel opening is sharp.

Thanks, but I can’t persuade the motor to drop out so I can get to the brushes.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1200 drum not turning
The brushes arrived very quickly (thanks) but the motor is refusing to budge. I’ve taken out the two bolts, released the electrical connector block and given the motor a tap with a hammer and a short length of wood through the rear inspection hatch but nothing’s moving.
I’m assuming that nothing needs to be undone/moved at the opposite end of the motor to the bolts and that it should just rotate downwards as it comes away. I’m also assuming that the plastic assembly through which the bolts are inserted doesn’t need to be removed separately.
Advice on the next line of attack would be welcome!

Thanks. Is it something that’s fairly simple to do? Are replacements easy to find? And are they reasonably priced!?

ParticipantRe: Zanussi TC7102 dryer leaking
The dryer is leaking again…
This time a thick plastic tube with a spring attached has come away in the back of the area occupied by the reservoir. Is this kind of problem typical of the Zanussi, or are we just being unlucky?
Is it a simple/inexpensive fix?
TIA

ParticipantRe: Zanussi TC7102 dryer leaking
Thanks, I’ll do that when I get a chance. She did say the rubber ring associated with the reservoir didn’t look to be in the best condition. Could it be something as simple as that? If so, are they easy/cheap to get hold of and fit?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FDL570 on/off button stuck
Thanks, worked fine. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to remove all the screws and end up with all sorts of bits falling out!
