Re: Recommendations for a washer/dryer please.

    Hi Bob

Much of a muchness really. Bosch and Siemens are from the same stable ie BSH, service is covered by the same engineers and the build is about the same.

The Bosch models the WFL is a 1000 spin and 49 litres of water whereas the WFX are 1200 and 1400 spin with a 46 litre usage, with a two year guarantee.

The two Siemens quoted are again 1200 and 1400 but come with a five year guarantee.

Comparing between the two brands I would go with either the Bosch WFX2468 at £369 or the Siemens WXLM148A at £399.

At only £30 between the two I would plum for Siemens with the better guarantee.

Then you have at the top of your`e budget the Miele W500 which is the Rolls Royce of washing machines. Built to a much higher spec, will last and last. Dont be put off by the slightly smaller capacity, Miele believe in quality rather than quantity and with a 5 year guarantee too it would definately be my first choice overall.

Looks like you`ve cornered the market then 😉 Quick put the price up they could become rare 😆 .

I suppose that means the Bosch’s will start from £300ish, putting a little value back into their product.

About time too. Just wish others would follow suit 😉

Sorry GB I missed this thread altogether 😳 (senior moment)

Goatboy wrote:Are you doing this promo Don?

Don`t do anything with Siemens, very rarely get asked for it, However Bosch and Neff now that`s another story 😉

Goatboy wrote:And the best bit… it’s designed so only ‘bricks + mortar’ dealers can join in! 😈

The reps from Bosch and Neff have been in recently with consumer offers too. Glad to say only for bricks and mortars.

Must have a word though about some incentives 😉

Whirlpool American dryer has this added feature too. I wonder who copied who 😉

    Re: Profit margins

Depends on your`e overheads really as a bricks and mortar retailer with the higher overheads on average we look for £45 per hundred of the cost.
We will shop around for the best price in just the same way as we would if we were buying a holiday for example.

The sole trader on the other hand who has a spare machine on his van or can nip into his local friendly distributor may well say okay I`ll do it for £35 per ton or whatever as I`m not really into selling machines but it`s another value added service I can offer my customer.

Like GB says There’s no point in running a business like a charity.

One of our suppliers has a good saying for retailers. ” Turnover is vanity but profit is sanity” just about sums it up 😉

I think you can gather by the comments we do not recommend washer dryers. If it is the only option available to you, then, with a budget of £600 I would go for either the Bosch WVT1260 or the WXD1260 both from the same stable, both come with a two year guarantee, German built and good back up.
