    Andy,
Could you point us to where, in any manufacturers documentation, you found this statement?

    Here you go.

Page 29 Miele W500 operating instructions says under the heading of Water softeners “A water softener can be used to cut down on the use of detergents in extremely hard water areas. Dispense according to the amount specified on the packaging. First add detergent and then the water softener. Use a quantity of detergent as for soft water. Miele do not recommend connecting the machine to a household water softener.

The next paragraph deals with using several components ie detergent, water softener and stain remover.

    Hi friggy

Door glasses do get very warm. I would go with the solid door machines where there are young ones about 😉

Both machines are okay but out of the two I would go with the AEG. It`s better built then the Zanussi. Comes with a stainless steel drum, soft door opening and the programme options are good with the sensed or timed drying.

In theory sounds good however I can see this becoming a “must have” for the Yuppie brigade or an optional extra on a new build perhaps at that price.

Whirlpool bought out the pret a porter recently I wonder how that has sold ❓

    Hi Paul

Have a look at the Bosch KGV34325GB or the Hotpoint RFA18. Both are large capacity family machines, offering well laid out interiors and without you having to pay the earth.

    Re: USA Style Fridge Freezer

Okay when they are working, not some of the best I`m afraid.

With that sort of budget I would go for seperate machines and get better quality of machine and a better back up.

I would go for either the Bosch KSR34425 fridge and the KSR34465 freezer. They stand 180cm high and 60cm wide. Superb quality with a two year guarantee. You can even reverse the door hanging for that side by side look and add the vertical trim as an optional extra, for the same look.

Or as an alternative the Hotpoint RLA84 fridge and the FZA84 freezer same sort of sizes but Hotpoint produce these in a nice Graphite colour. Door reversal too.

Otherwise if its a pure American machine then the Maytag or the Whirlpool machines but they are more expensive.

    Re: Microwave needed

Samsung produce a reasonably priced commercial microwave oven for light use CM1049 comes with a three year warranty.

Sharp also have one with a slightly larger cavity which has a one year warranty model R21AT.
