    Re: The Forthcoming Apocalypse

its the nutters with the range cookers who decide they better get the right side oven repaired on the 23rd , been broke since the summer

then they decide to get a bit arsey on the phone when their little Christmas dinner bubble bursts after you alert then to the fact that you have other customers already booked in.

they normally hang up when you advise your call-out for such a special service.

its the panic food buying in the lead up that really cracks me up – people filling their trolleys ups with 12 loafs .. you just want to slap them..

with repaircare offering fixed price , currys again to a certain extent
most internet customer will end up paying one of those 2 , not saying they offer a better service than indies – but r/c care will spent up to the value of the machine .

there isnt much room for anyone to muscle in , newbie franchises etc will fall head over heels for these types businesses.

kinda like the guys 0800 were championing early doors – not you mike )- but the car mechanics , ex raf engineer etc .

cash work has probaly dropped in half in the last 2 years . i dont see the room for more of the same ?

must admit the site does look a bit slick – but what they are doing will fall on it arse .. customers are not loyal most have other tradesman maybe look for 1-2 when they need one – so unless the co has a shit load of cash to throw at google – i cant see it working . god knows what 0800 spent

i keep harking back to the power of indies if they get there marketing heads on .. plenty of gorilla marketing tactics out there – all above board that will keep you on page 1 of google,

right now i dont have a lot of time to advise on what ive been doing to check it works ect – but needless to say it works – very well ..

costs time and about £100 ish – outcome high vis on google search

i kinda changed the topic – but we are constantly reminded of the ever decreasing circle of cash customer and co who want to take £££ away form indies ..

    Re: INDUSTRY STANDARD WAGE ?

yeh a little bonus is a great carrot , he does a mix of calls so its hard to get the bonus mix correct , ie long duration’s etc .

right now im testing him to see if he has the temperament to accept the way things work – he should know as hes shadowed an engineer for a year.

he a good kit but like everything attitude , motivation and temperament will decide his future right now

thanks god we have a car wash in next unit ,,.

i see what you mean though – its a hard one to call as i think you get the best out of anyone if you dont strangle them with red tape contracts etc .. but maybe thats the way to go ..

    Re: Engineers working contract ?

can someone email o contract if they have one ,

im more interested in how anyone else works out start – finish ect, its a hard one to call – they want ot when they work late but dont want to give back if finished early – not that i would want that ,

ive heard bosch start when you turn up at 1st customer , but pay an extra hour per day for traveling .

indesit start the clock when you leave your house and base you calls on time rather than job to finish

this isnt something that you can set in stone as theres to many variables . but i would be intrested if anyone has something written into a contract ect

    thanks ally

    Re: Engineers working contract ?

    hi bryan

yes send what you have , ive believe you dont need a written contract , it can be as in our case verbal .

but im getting to point where i need to clarify any grey areas – we do run a tight ship and the guys know whats expected etc ,

it seems as soon as you have 2 around their is more mischief re this that and the next .

so maybe a written statement will put any mischief back in place
