Bosch has just provided RecallUK with the latest number of recalled dishwashers they have managed to find and repair.

Of the 632,000 recalled in the UK (across Bosch brands) they have managed to find and repair 152,957.

This is 24{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the affected units and up 1.3{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on the figure for September 2012.

These recalled dishwashers are between eight and 13 years old and many will have been scrapped.

Bosch is reluctant to provide an estimate of how many of these dishwashers they would expect to no longer be in use.

In theory, this leaves us with 478,940 potentially dangerous dishwashers still in people’s homes.

i dont know about bryan , wind mills 2-3 million each and they only run them at 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} capacity …. the do look impressive although..

just the cost of 1 windmill would probably keep this factory going safeguarding 100 jobs ..

Re: How Much Do You Know About Washing Machines?

as laurence pointed out earlier – front load the engineer with knowledge etc , this odes take time to screen every call and then find relevant data to customers complaint – and unless you contact the customer to confirm fault you can end up spending a lot of time gathering data for the wrong fault ..

i would say we should have a basic guide to hand and give to customers when required – much like the help section on here regarding stains – marks poor washing results etc .

if they see this for their own eyes the penny may drop re user fault misuse etc.

on a lighter note maybe a guide to cheap appliances and their shortcoming should be left with customer – so their over elevated expectations of their cheap ass purchase may also help ..

Re: How Much Do You Know About Washing Machines?

customer do often use the wrong prog , the biggest one we see is customer has worked out if they use dedicates etc the washing time is quicker – this seems to work ok for them for a while but then out the blue they call up saying its not spinning bla bla bla , we go out and confirm timer is set at delicate , and advise them in the error of their ways ..

often this has to explained to husband or house sitter etc …
MRS then comes in from shopping – and she not havn that explanation and is back on the phone – RECALL

engineer goes back out and shes ready for him re dedicates – normaly they say the dont use dedicates and only used it once etc …
eng then spend up to an hour testing rinse spin etc .

so i suppose it can all hinge of on what type of machine and whether the customer will accept engineers findings

Re: Should of got a deposit.

i dont generally tell them to the last detail ie part nos etc , but if specifically asked i will , we charge a diagnostic fee anyway so if customer wants to do their own thing that fine we take the fee for our time and let them get on with it ,
we very rarely get customers doing this, but were are in difficult times and customer will try and save money doing diy repair if they think they can do it ..

best not to go in and start advising easy job and heres the part number etc .

    lesson learned i suppose ,

    Re: Moving Away From China

its seem that every youngster want to be a pop star now anyway , thanks simon ..

we have grown a very greedy- needy country where we want everything on the cheap and on credit .

we have lost sight of manufacturing – all we want is cheap products – who gives a crap about where it comes from .

we need to get more like the Americans and bring back appliance manufacturing – be it more patriotic about supporting uk jobs ..

but it easier to have 10 kids all with a medical condition and earn 80-100 k a year with modified houses free cars and nice care worker to pander to anything else you require …..makes me sick this lot ….

maybe ill bring out a jeremy kyle range – they will fly out the doors
