i suppose the main diff between pattern and gen would be price ?

    Re: The 0800 Thread

manufacturers really should have their own techs or a least work a lot closer with their agents –

multiple parts ordering / fit through,s happens with employed engineers just as much as contractors this was rife at comet – store men didnt want parts back as they had already been booked /invoiced through job ..most end up in the bucket.

good accessible tech help when required would go a long way to resolve a lot of issues

initial free van stock ( i think w/pool are the only manu that does this)

    Re: Appliance Fires

i dont know what electrical testing would do to prevent a fire tbh apart from finding low insulation Resistance etc , it seems that the fire issues are more on defective components that pass standard electrical tests.

i would be worried about customer claiming someone said it was safe and free from fire risk .. take a dishwasher wash pump with a piece of glass stuck in motor – motor overheats – whos to blame

so many variables to contend with

how many dryers to you go that are completely bunged up with fluff , frightening that they hadnt went woof.

i do get the value of a safety check

    Re: The 0800 Thread

flawed logic was that not hoover ? .. the reader doesnt have to read the 0800 thread at all .

we will never give up our 0800 thread …FREE-DOM .

    lol.
but on a serious note if the 0800 has been an eyeopener and even a wallet opener for some – its good for the indies to be aware of whats going on.

if this takes the form of a long winded thread then so be it .its not really up to any one individual to decide when anyone stops posting – eh appart from god i suppose

    Re: The 0800 Thread

last i heard mike was seen being bundled into a blacked out van with a big dagger on the roof .. witnesses think the van had writing on it ? – 008 or something ? .

yes the Americans call it the 5th amendment- this is an extension of the ukw like it or lump it in a round about and sometimes a direct way this site has helped the indies – so dont knock the banter, commadery and straight talk that occasionally happens on here ..

Re: new software for service/stock/data management

i had a look at the ukw meeting i was impressed by the tech/parts that come up with the job , was defo going to purchase system – but may have to go with service base as samsung have developed a app for agents which uses service base only ..boohoo. will see if its any good maybe still go for pauls software

    Re: electrical safety testing ?

this is another tough one guys and until its regulated im afraid its all up to the individual to decide how he tackles electrical safety .

i think we all need to take a step back from all the arguing and push forward the safety side of this post ..

were all under pressure to get appliances working and get to the next job – and quite often steam right into the repair without a thought of electrical safety ….

i for one now go straight for volt stickearth loop before i touch the appliance …

and would recommend anyone to do the same

    ally ..
