ParticipantRe: DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts
seems a bit strange that no-one has heard of anyone being employed by this new network , maybe there going to take ex comet engineers on mass , also a bit weird that the dsg under warranty is staying ? ..
i really dont see the logic in this – they’ve been their b4 with master care and canned it , comet couldn’t make it work , brit – gas seem to be having troubles make it work – and they have money to burn ..
i personally think an employed network is a whole different animal to a self employed one – give currys network a few months – and see how they get on with no access,s – built unit s etc etc – employed engineers dont have to bother about this – where as self employed will make sure customer is in – and will spend time taking out built-inns etc – cos if the dont they wont get paid ..
not saying all employed engineers will be like this – but the game changes extremely when the difference is – going home with a steady wage as opposed to no complete – no wage ..
buy hey ho . let the fun begin

do tell whats the way the combat – apart from liability insurance ..
we dont really get to much hassle but recently we have had our fair share of total ars$$$$holes most with cheap shit chinese products who expect an all sing all dancing service..
threatening this that and the next thing if we dont take appliance out etc bla bla bla ..
where we do try and go the extra mile to acomadate we normally find that we get shafted by
A THE CUSTOMER
B WORK PROVIDERi just want something for the customer to actknowledge the potential hazards in the removal of their appliance

ParticipantRe: British Gas
its hard not to be a tad cynical ,
i understand the speech re recruiting as their are many one man bands who may think the wage of £34-38 k appealing. i would want proof of that wages if i was thinking about it.i suppose we should treat brit gas like many other w/p out there. ?
i have strong feeling that technical has a lot to do with this ..
maybe we can get a statement from brit – gas on how the partnership would work

you can buy a DeLorean for about 10k now,
re the know-how network yes if they have managed to set up a network that will cope with demand – then i take my hat of to them ,
how have the built it without the general ukwers getting wind ? .. have they just re-employed comet engineers , or is brit gas in the frame .
has connect won some comet work – i know they were in discussions but thats about it..
lets hope the info starts to come through now everyone is a bit clearer of situ ..

hi steve , im afraid theres no science to meeting potential clients , you really need to get your skill sets and coverage area out to potential clients long before you get the chance to meet face to face , i personally have met clients via other ukw members who ive networked with over many meetings etc ,
realistically you cant just turn up and hope everyone will throw work at you. although this has been the case in many occasions ..
i wouldnt let this put you off – i have lost count how many companies we have emailed etc..

i agree with alex great to meet/network with old and new friends lots of valuable info/ideas exchanging hands , new software on show (ken) , refrigeration training , new apps , learning sites – to much to take in tbh .. but none the less an extremely valuable and interesting meeting.
another big thanks to ukw/wta staff who made this happen again
