    Re: 0800 Repair

so customers are now mugs if they pay for an same day service or dont use “its in the name 0800” for their repair …you really need to stop reading the diarrhoea thats on your site as i think its catching.

next you be coming on here – advising that only 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of engineers interviewed for 0800 are offered a franchise ..

the big difference mike is when customers call us they will be booking a call with a local office and a real whitegoods engineer will turn up to do the job ..

when they call 0800 it could be the butcher the baker or the candle stick maker , or with any luck they might get a jtm contractor

i think the latter is closer to the truth -jtm agents doing most of 0800,s work,.

back to clives silly statement .. RIP OFF.. i wonder what 0800 customers reaction would be if they thought the were paying for a ” its in the name 0800repair franchisee ” and instead a contractor turns up who has nothing to do with 0800 ? i suppose the only saving grace is that the contractor will know whats hes doing.

    Re: 0800 Repair

Must of took you some time to come up with this

Now this one http://www.4kitchenappliancerepairs.co.uk/ £75.00 for next day are you having a laugh now that is a rip off. At 0800 we charge the same labour no matter what day or what machine.

Quite frankly anyone who charges extra for an integrated machine is just greedy and they charge extra for ranges and American fridge freezers. WHY??? What do they have something special about them that require special tool??? RIP OFF!!!!!!!

0800 .. taken from their site “our franchises are: skilled in the sort of work we take on —
    they have on offer –
highly skilled stairlift engineer, air aircraft mechanic , air con engineer, and a pipe fitter who have All paid for a franchise, have no previous domestic appliance experience – but they have done the 0800 training ..

“And again proclaim to be “The main agents for etc etc” well no you’re not your just another authorise repairer for them you certainly not “The Main agent”. Misleading to the public again.”

WELL LETS NOT GET INTO WHAT 0800 AND THE HIGHLY SKILLED FRANCHISES PROCLAIM TO BE

    Re: 0800 Repair

Ultimately the consumer will decide. i agree andy

its up to the indies to meet the challenge , goes back to martins idea of a localfix ect type site where consumer is directed to nice site offering real local company’s . high-liting pros-cons well maybe not cons ..lol

basically bigging ourselfs up just like the nationals
, search @ and fme are currently doing this. but not on the scale the nationals are re google etc – theres is a lot more to come via search etc..

    Re: 0800 Repair

i agree jeremy – concentrate on what you do best ..

we are now in a fast paced digital market place where consumers wont really spend to much time deciding on who to call , if they find a nice web site – all sing all dancing online booking etc ,and appears to be local they will probaly use it.

competition is what it is , doing what we do best is probably not going to be enough , like it or lump it your paying customers are being hoovered up by nationals ,

this may not effect everyone as we have a lot of specialists on ukw that will survive one way on another – but i dont think thats the point .

i would like to start a ukw members marketing group with the blessing/help of the ukw .

as a start point if anyone is interested pm me – maybe get ball rolling ,

    Re: 0800 Repair

full circle , back to ades orig post andy –

will customer get a 0800 engineer , or a non crb etc jtm contract engineer ?..

re pub chain – i suppose when you walk through the door you know its local ..and when you order your favourite pint you can taste it and you know its what you ordered.

0800 local sites give the impression their local – but infact most of them arent and are ran from a call centre far away , if they dont have a local 0800 franchise for that area , the customer wont get a local 0800 engineer.

i suppose this tread has grown arms and legs and for me its more about the threat to real local companies .
something that i think we all have to understand and compete
    against.

Re: National Hoovering Of Service Work

so what do you do , just sit and do nothing and let nationals take the bread and butter away from the indies ,

not a ridiculous as you think , work could be shared via skill sets etc ,

i for one would be willing to try something even if it includes subscriptions to fund ..

im sure with the clout of this site and the rest of the guys on here we could come up with something good ..

of course it costs to compete with pay per click on google etc but you can also compete via google places ( something that nationals cant use), page 1 organic listing can also be achieved with some know-how.

customer are wiser than you think and know the sponsored listing at the top of google are more than likley going to be a national etc –

they will then look for local via maps or local via organic search – thats where the battle can be won , we can collectively have 2-3 listings and google map listings for any town-city or village,

customer will then truly have a choice to use a local engineer /company

the clever people need to take over here and make sure customer is directed to a nice web site explaining that when they choose their local agent – they truly will be local ,

    so very dooable ..

we have the know-how , the resource , the time and the clout

do we have the desire ? .. i hope so as you just need to look at any main street in any town now … butchers , grocers , bakers all gone – they really didnt stand a chance against the big super markets ..

    we however collectively do …
