wow is your real name cantona lol..

yeh we try to run a tight ship -pre ordering etc ..

im not really a fan of bonuss myself , but on the other hand not really a fan of giving money away whether its bonus or increase of wages – as there comes apoint where money isnt the driver …

example lee ? football player he doesnt play better cos you give him an extra 20k a week …does he .

althought im not a fan of bonuss culture i do like the idea behind it …rewarding for extra effort ,

anyway if theres anyone who runs a bonuss system , please let me know

    Re: engineer bonus ??

YIP BEEN THERE GOT THE TSHIRT ..

been with a few bonuss co,s myself b4 started on own..
so kinda went full circle , from my own experience bonuss only works up to a point and for that matter wages do as well …

if your employed their is no way you will put the same amount of effort time and time again as a self employed person… the reason being you are only getting a capped wages whether you put the effort in or not …

i agree with jims post ,

im just looking for a simple sytem that rewards as well as keeping eng on toes …
( that i can tote up quicky etc dont want to spend endless hours )

    Re: engineer bonus ??

    not abad idea ,
but we have a mixed bag of clients mostly insu co
where prices are irrelevant .. engineer could add uneeded parts etc to bump up total …not saying he would but dont want to put cost per job throught the roof etc ..

as we have a mixed bag of jobs/clients i was thinking of a points based system where each job has a points value …
    ie
normal run of mill job pump change etc = 1 pt
    tub job = 2 pts
long duration intergrated appliance 2 pts
    recall – 1 pt ??
dont want ot over complicate things but i think i could reasonably establish which jobs deserves which points value and agree this with eng ..

each point would = £ .. this is where the tricky bit is … whats a point worth … to little engineer wont bother …to much profit loss …

my only problem with this is , i dont want to turn the whole job thing into a money making scheme where engineer is thinking only of racking up points to get £££..

i know at the end of the day thats why we all go to work – to make money.

so hopefully i can come up with something that doesnt make him to greedy and will give him a balanced reward for his hard work .

    any other ideas welcome …

    Re: statistics ???

    thanks guys …

dont know if its a good idea or not to quote stats reguarding marketing -as theres always someone who would chalenge them etc ..

may go with something along the lines ….
most appliance repairs are due to minnor parts failure or simply need adjusted , so why pay over the odds on a fixed repair when there a good chance you may only need to pay for engineers call-out..

only thinking out loud with this , also dont want every customer who reads it to think all they will need is a call-out … bit of a balance act ..

i think this fixed price repair fee will really kick off and its only a matter of time when all the big boys will have it as standard practice..
it is a big threat to independants.

i know lots of us have plenty loyal repeat customers , but the next generation are all www.. online this that and the next thing..

    maybe time to rethink ..

    cheers martin..

just thinking about a marketing line to counter these …

fixed price repairs type services .. ie why pay £139 etc if all you need is a simple unblock etc…

dont know what causes this but ive had de at least 4 times and in all cases its been the stator..

1st one i went back with door lock , but didnt work..

but i would try door lock on this one..also worth getting part no for stator sensor , if cheap enough take both
