Re: Need a spare part for that

Maybe you guys have higher morals than me, but those are the spares I throw at the wall, then send back to the all-saler as faulty for a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} refund. 😈

But, the easier way, is to get a deposit off the customer before ordering anything for them; and if it’s a ‘customer-diagnostic’, tell them “If it’s wrong, I don’t care, there’s a 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} handling fee, if you got the balls to bring it back at all.”

    Typical phone call – “Hello?”

“Rate? How much fer a timer fer me dishwasher?”

“It’s a very expensive part, are you sure it’s the timer?”

“Oh yeah, me uncle in Austrailia is an electrician…..”

    etc, etc……

I’ll ask the boss tomorrow when I see him.

    He’s an expert on Quickbooks.

I mentioned to him, and he said something about a long-term liability.

Then of course the ear-wigging rep said “isn’t that you, Goatboy?”

I don’t mind; but I think the problem is that retail is a very cagey section of business, where people keep their cards close to their chest. 🙁

That’s why I’m posting this in the subscribers bit. BTW, I hope lots of activity in the subscribers forum, causes more subscribtions.

    Re: Retail

When the boss bought our HQ, 25 years ago, he wanted it just as a workshop and storage. The council told him he had to open a shop!

We are far away from the high street, in a residential area, so foot-fall past the shop window is terrible. Just the same old smack-heads everyday 🙁

Nearly every customer I get, has found me in a directory, and rings me first to see if I have the spare, or can fix the small appliance. Then I have to direct them here; and every customer says the same thing….

“I never knew you were here!”

But the good thing about being away from the high street, is there are no over-heads for us, no mortage, no rent, no staff to pay, just utilities. So when it’s quiet, who cares, do some gardening, it will pick-up next week. 😉

I had a competitor open a shop in the town centre, just doing vacuum sales and repairs. He didn’t last long! How can you support a business on just vac stuff? with a new shop and town centre rates?

    It really gets my goat!

I’ve got to be careful talking to Servis customers. Appartly I swear and scoff alot at them. I don’t know, I just see a white-hot flash of fury whenever someone says ‘Servis’.

Seriously though, I’ve found that if you talk to them calmly, and point out the errors of their purchase, you can convince them to buy a quality product next time.

    Speaking of which…..

From the company nagigator, go to ‘chart of accounts’

Then go to ‘How do I?’ – submenu ‘add accounts’ – then ‘Adding new accounts’

There’s a pretty compehensive guide there.

ps. I’d recommend ‘Quickbooks’ to anyone.

You ever seen a goat drink a pint of beer, with a samosa?

    The m/c is leaking!

If the anti-flood mechanism didn’t run, it would flood your kitchen. 🙁

It could be leaking from numberous places.

If your going you have a look yourself, isolate the m/c from the mains. :zap:

Then there’s the poor engineers that arrive late for work, and have to buy breakfast too. The cornerstone of any work day.

Luckily the shop across the road sells fresh somosias (spelling? 🙁 ), so if I get 1 of those with a chocolate bar, I’m set for the morning (’till elevens’s away). I’ll get all the important food groups…meat, fat, sugar and salt. Yum yum!
