    Re: Dyson DC05 Motorhead

The part should be fit by a qualified engineer for safety reasons.

I can’t be specific on fitting, again for safety reasons. 🙁

    Sorry, I can’t do that.

    What was the original problem?

If it was no motor action from that motorhead, it could be a module problem (from past expierience). These are notoriously awkward, and I’d recommend professional help from your local Dyson specialist.

I’m pretty sure the first way is correct.

But the manufacteurs have an annoying habit of changing the colours of the wires.

    I have a wiring diagram, but it’s in black + white. 🙁

Always unplug the vac first. :plug:

It depends what colour the Dyson is.

The silver/Lime one (slime) is a clutchless model which is prone to belts snapping. It’s easily acessible with a 2p coin.

The silver/yellow one has a clutch. The brushroll will only rotate, once the head has been lowered. But on this model, I get that complaint alot when people have accidently disengaged the clutch.

That got me thinking. Have you booked me a double?

I’ll only need a single if that helps. Mrs Goat aint coming, and I don’t think I’ll be getting lucky.

Exactly! That’s how I sell those electronic sweepers. They won’t pick up the dust-mites lurking deep in the carpet, but for everyday cleaning (spills, or chasing around kids and pets) they are quick and easy.

There is a little vacuum made by Home tek, called the ‘light + easy’. It comes with bag, suction and sweeping power, but (IMO) it’s a little too tacky (plastic fan).

Anything will be lighter than a kirby. 🙄

As a good bagged machine (if your not as rich as Dell, and can’t afford an Oreck) I recommend the Panasonic. It’s a nice, light, reliable design, that hasn’t changed for the last 20ish years. All the bags are the same for the Panasonic upright range too, making finding them very easy. The only problem with Panasonic (IMHO) is that after-sales service sucks, so don’t break it.

    Latest one – MCE3001 – £70-£80ish.

If you are as rich as Dell, buy the Oreck!

Unless you want a bagless!!!! Thats a whole new essay.

I’m a big fan of the G-tech. It’s not a vacuum, but it works as a very powerful sweeper. Hence, the vacuum only comes out once a week, because most spills and general mess can be cleaned up by the G-tech.

Check it out here – http://www.greytechnology.com/

Then buy one here – Shop@ – Gtech

That probably depends on whether you want some money for it or not.

And make, model and problem would help too. 😉

    Sorry Martin. That’s not funny.

It’s more like reading a Shakespearian tradegy.

Is it me that’s stupid, or Martin that deleted it?

    I can’t find this thread.

    Any chance of a link?
