ParticipantRe: Watch out for the dodgy doorstep salesman.
try that on cornish back roads though, esp when a round trip to one job may take an hour, only yo find someone out, or an incomplete call, which means when you go back you have spent 2 hours on the road for £16!,
anyway, good luck to anyone who accepts the challenge,p.s not been on for a while, hope everyone is ok out there, keeping afloat

Maybe if there’s someone working for them now who’d like to move down here this would be an opportunity.
Mike. They already did, he lasted all of 3 months before finding the 80+ miles a day on country roads too much!,

It may well be a slight boost for some retailers, but would also send more people to the sheds, whilst killing off the already struggling repairers

ParticipantRe: Leaking Hotpoint condensor dryers
very tricky, but run a bead of sealant along the base & up sides of the fan/condenser housing where it meets the back panel, think the seals perish over time/heat, only usually a very slow drip, so the sealant sorts it

that washer is well ouside zone 2, zone 2 only extends 60cm from zone 1 (inside the cubicle)
the misunderstanding about sockets in bathrooms comes from the change of description in the new regs, bathrooms are no longer mentioned, they are now rooms conatining a bath or shower, to incorperate the fact that many bedrooms now have a shower in the corner, an so, any sockets must be over 3M from zone 2,
the one in the pic would be acceptable IF the property has RCD protection at the consumer unit, but would also need to have a supplimentary bond attached, (as would the sink)
However if it has been there for over a year then it would not need to comply with 17th as it only covers new/additional installationshotpnt

ParticipantRe: drying time of a combo, how much worse?
yup, as much as we like visitors to UKWG you will be very regular if you buy a washer/dryer, ask any engineer here what they would do if they were offered one for free, and almost all would say NO,
P45 has mentioned the best option for you, buy a washer & small dryer for when u need ithotpnt
ParticipantRe: price increases Qualtex / Hotpoint
