Not sure if I made a mistake due to being busy, ( or old and dozy) first install a week ago model number noted as a CI555WH. today I am sure the machine had model number 8665CT, or have I misread the rating plate?

No relays involved, the click will be the door interlock closing. Apart from a visual check on the wiring there is little else you can do without a wiring diagram, a timer sequence chart and proper test equipment.

You should also use a multimeter or meggar to check the condition of the replacement valve as well as the displaced one.

    Plug removed, of course. 😉

Not round here. It is so random that it is very difficult to pin down. It has done it on my driveway, then been fine for several weeks after. Volvo have ordered a new ‘Drivers Door Module’, in the hope that it will cure the fault. The alarm never fails to set, it just doesn’t always trigger the central locking.

The same problem as washing machines, to many complicated electronics. No chance of your local garage repairing it.

There was a German study a couple of years back that said the radio activity in a Volvo V70 due to all the gizmo’s was above safety levels. 😯

Your insurers would be forced to accept liability and pay the claimant in a case such as this. You will then have to stump up the excess premium (usually between £50 and £100 for most policyholders) and your next renewal premium will ramp up accordingly.

No excess whatsoever on my policy, premium has been £110 for well over ten years at least.

    £2 million cover.

I have referred only two or three cases to them in over 27 years, but of course the do not inform me of the outcome.

    Good old Co-op. 😀

    No.

Can you here a faint buzzing noise when the machine is set to a 95° wash ?

If you are certain that the new valve you have fitted is OK then the only way to test further is with a wiring diagram and the proper test equipment.

Wiring diagrams a copyright material so without it you can only do basic circuit tests.

Plug out if you intend to proceed or click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area. Fault could be wiring, control timer etc.

To be honest, I would not lose any sleep if this happened to me. I would refer it straight to my Public Liability insurance company. I have paid them plenty of money over the years to deal with this sort of thing. If they think it is a scam then it is up to them to either sort it or pay up. Not your responsibility at all.

I would most certainly not ‘pay up and bite my tongue’ 😉

    From the manual.

    To Deactivate

Press both Start/Cancel and On/Off buttons together until
    d OFF appears.
The default screen returns and you can select a new programme.
Note:- The default screen information displayed on these models is that of the programme currently selected by the selector knob.

You do seem to get the odd one that decides to clear when it wants to, you just have to keep trying.

3+4 suggest an NTC fault. An engineer with the correct test equipment is advisable.

click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.
Please remove the plug if you intend to investigate yourself.

Re: hotpoint VTD65 dryer… drum problem

It may be that the rear bearing shaft has snapped. Remove the plug and take of the back panel. You can see the end of the shaft there. If it has worn through the small square bearing block, or indeed snapped completely it will need replacing. not an easy DIY fix.

    Re: Compensation Issue

Just wondering what type of machine it was. I have seen pipes blow off Hotpoint washer dryers on several occasions when the mains water has been turned off. The air in the pipes afterwards, often blows the hoses off the dispenser. Worth finding out if the water supply had been interrupted.

Fine in the old style, one sheet of stainless steel drums, but with plastic lifters a definite no no, knocks them of for fun on WMA drums.
