Possibly not the most useful tool in my toolbox, very handy though. Question is, does anyone know what it is for. This is exactly as it was supplied to me when I was first employed by a leading white goods manufacturer, many, many years ago. 😉

sorry for slightly blurred pic. 🙂

These heating elements are very delicate. you should not really try to run the dryer with the back panel removed, if you do this the elements will glow because there is no air flow to cool them.Changing this element is not too difficult, however you have to remove the side panel to allow you to change the wiring plug, why they don’t allow enough length to allow the element to be changed without having to do this is beyond me.

Approx cost of this element is £21.00 + vat.

Re: CREDA TCR13 – CONDENSER TUMBLE DRYER – WATER NOT IN TANK

One possibilty, particularly if you are having problems closing the door is that the valve on the water container or more likely the aperture inside the dryer that this valve slots into has been damaged. Shine a torch inside the hole from which you remove the water container and look a the back right hand corner. Can you see a spring or other ‘bits’ loose in there. If the answer is yes then you will almost certainly need a replacement float chamber. This is most definately not a repair for the inexperienced as it requires removal of the drum etc.

It is worth mentioning that with this type of dryer it is vital to keep not only the filter but also the heat exchanger as clean as possible. the best way to clean the heat exchanger is with a hosepipe in the garden if you have one. The heat exchanger is the long metal box that you can pull out at the bottom left just above the water container. You should also avoid switching the machine off or stopping it in mid cycle, this can lead to early stat failure. Unless it is an emergency turn the timer control to the ten minute cool period, do not just open the door or stop the machine when it is hot.
Edit. if you intend to change the stats yourself, handle the one with the green spot very carefully, it is the one wrapped in tissue paper. If you press on the base of the stat it may trip and it is a ‘one shot’ device, that is to say once tripped it will not reset.
