    Re: Euro Meltdown

The whole situation is a nonsense, greece should have been allowed to default way back (they should never have been allowed to join along with a few others) Our saving grace is we have sterling we can print money (quantive easing as they now call it) , we can devalue , we have the luxury (used loosely) of attracting other countries to invest and buy our bonds , we still have a good credit rating with moodys etc because we are still in control of our economic policy. Trade with the eu is important but there are plenty of other markets some emerging. we havent got all out eggs in one basket. But the future doesnt look overly bright thats for sure.

    Re: Free call outs

Most reasonable people expect to pay for someone to come to their property. Free estimates have to be balanced out somewhere in the business. i would suspect by over charging on other jobs. Running around pandering to the people who want something for nothing are not the customers i would want. Fair price for services/skills provided is the best way.

    Re: And the point is…

apart from people who want some techno device this wont fly in the mass market. Majority just want to shove their clothes in , detergent select program and start. messing around is not what they want and most people would say, errr sounds expenive when it goes wrong. ‘over engineering’ its a washing machine after all.

    Re: rapport

    there are 3 solutions.
    1) in xampp control-3 beta, click on config and then select apache. edit the opened file and change…

listen 80 change it to listen 8700 (or another port).
ServerName localhost:8700 (same port as above)
    click save
    restart apache.
    Then in your browser localhost:8700

    2) the registry change has the risk of stopping other windoz programs that use that system hook so is less preferable.

    3) edit the hosts file to create an entry for local instead of localhost to point to apache (again alot easier to use option 1)

    Re: British Gas

The true agenda will come out in due course for sure. I dont understand a company the size of BG having a problem recruiting/training service engineers that they need use the wta meeting to achieve it. Part of the speech it was said that it wasnt necessarily about the technical abilities of who they are looking for but more about personality/dealing with customers etc (yes that does form a part) as they can train anyone (my words cant remeber the exact phrase used) to do that. This makes it even more bizare when there are 3million people unemployed and as we know comet laying off alot of people more than capable and employable. Sumit isnt right here imo.

    Re: rapport

sudeep has a list of issues from me already. If apache wont run then u can either change the port # in the hpptd.conf to something like 8500 or there is a reg entry for win7 to stop the kernel from using port 80, also if u have iis running it gets a bit more complicated.
