I’m in exactly the same position as you Ken, have been in the top 15 to 20 for many years but dropped down to about 50 last time round because of the same problems you have, it’s a very unfair system unless you do just one brand 😉

We repair the cookers in local schools for the Council, it’s got to a point where we now do the service work out of school hours in term time and try to do most of them during half term breaks, but the same issues arise like Martin in residential homes that we do, some of them for the mentally disabled we have to have a security guard with us at all times 😯

    Re: DeDetrich DOD788 Problems

I’ve checked the instruction manual and there is no maximum weight limit stated in it, I have sold a lot of these and not had a problem like this and a lot of my customers do use the rotisserie function, best bet would be to contact Bill at De Dietrich technical and find out the weight limit and any other technical information on the rotisserie function you need, 3kg does not seem excessive in my opinion.

Has anyone ever asked the customer what they are putting on the spit and how much the food weighs, there is a limit on how much those motors can take

And let’s not forget the plethora of ‘Chinese’made dishwashers all badged up with different names, leaking all the time!

My pet hate is Chinese dishwashers, biggest load of tat ever to hit the market, usually given as a freebie with a new kitchen as was previously stated.

    Re: 0800 Repair

Had a phone call from this lot today offering me the chance to become a member of 0800 and they will give you nice new van with a screwdriver on top, got my details from DASA seemingly, strung him along for a while 😈 £25 completed call rate and you get all the out of warranty calls they generate through their ‘6000 plus websites’ but whatever you charge labour on those calls they will take 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} but you get the mark up on the spares as long as you purchase them through JTM…..
I respectfully declined this very kind offer 🙂

Re: where has all the work gone

Well getting back to the title of this thread it seems that a lot of us are struggling or just getting by at the moment, internet prices for new appliances at ridiculously low prices and fixed price repairs on the net are partly the problem but people are just not spending, down here anyway, I’ve tried different things but I think it is a matter of just hanging in there.

Certainly will not be going down the free call out route for repairs, I have price matched a few appliance sales lately only because they were built in and I made on the delivery and installation fee……….. :rolls:

Just an update on this one, even though Argos are still selling this model no technical or parts information is available so D&G have agreed to replace the appliance, with yes you have guessed it the exact same model again :rolls:

    Re: AWCT10L Wiring Loom Fault

Definitely wiring loom plug fault, I tried a new motor and PCB on first visit and new then it must be something to do with the loom but its very hard to continuity test the motor to PCB loom as you really cant get the probes to stay in place, I have had a couple of motor plugs loose and cable tied them back but this was completely different.
