    Re: London & General Holdings

Just had a job rejected by LGH for an MFI call because Glen Dimplex went there before me !!!

I will be invoicing that one direct to Paul Brooks, it isn’t the first time this has happened, how the hell should we know someone else has been there within the time limit!!

Did one last week, if it’s PCB then you will have to configure it, code is on the new PCB same as Zanussi.

No info on Agora to tell you how to do it though, lucky i had the Distri DVD with me !!!

    Re: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!

I still have some stress, but at least the outcome of my business is in my own hands, not someone else, the big problem with a franchise is all your income generally comes from it, but you have no control over the amount or lack of work.

When it’s busy you are expected to cope, when there is not enough work they will say it’s down to you to find ‘alternative’ sources, but they will always expect their work done as priority.

The case of payment rejections will still be a factor if you are franchise or an agent, the point is that you will end up working six days a week 12-14 hours a day and probably end up with same pay as being employed but without the benefits, it only really hits if you take a holiday and 30 days later you have half the income but with all the outgoings still to pay, and the good old VAT man don’t care too much if you ain’t got the money !!

As I said before I am lucky due to this site and others in the business who helped me at that time, if anyone out there is seriously considering this please, please take your time and do your maths, use the profitability section that K has put on here and be honest with your calculations, not everyone might be as lucky and get away with it like I did.

I will never be a millionaire with my business, but I provide a good service and earn a decent living with the independence of being self employed, I work with some good companies that are as far as I can see are decent, and I have my own customers but most important not any of them can influence me or my business like that certain company tried to.

I will stop my rambling now, I don’t post many replies but I think I had to on this one, good luck to you all.

    Re: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!

just caught up with this thread, I was one of the NESN franchise engineers, and there weren’t that many of us !!

We were paid 35-00 a completed call and I struggled to make it pay, it got so bad that I was booking all my calls because otherwise I would only get 3 to 4 calls a day all over the place, also take into account the fact it cost 10 grand payable monthly over 3 years, lease hire of their van at approx 400 a month, fuel at 350 a month, mobile phone and admin costs that you had to use from them, their van, liability and goods insurance etc the list went on and on.

I was clocking up around 260 calls a month six days a week and lucky to complete 190/200 after all the deductions I would have been better off working part time as a barman (no disrespect to bar staff).

Luckily for me I was a member of this site last April and with the help of UKW I got wise and managed to get out before I got myself in the s**t, my only advice to anyone with ideas about taking this on is, if at 35 a call I can’t make it work how can you even consider it at 16 ?

I struggled terribly when I packed it in and has taken me 12 months to get back on my feet, but it could have been much worse, I count myself lucky.

Leave well alone, but its just an opinion.

    all the best

You may have an E7 fault ( see the Diplomat thread in this forum ) or try clearing the air break supply hose from the sump, it might be full of crap, if not the door lock may have turned over and is closed, check the facia panel isn’t broken as well by the door lock.

    Good luck

I for one have had enough of our certain WP, I stopped working for this WP at the end of May and have been p****d about by them for my final payment ever since.

I have now given them till the end of this week or I will get a debt collection agency to deal with it, enough is enough my freinds !!!!

To help the smaller guys out could it be possible that a bigger company help out the one man bands with the admin etc if they were both in the same region, ie split the region up to suit all parties in that region and so everyone is helping each other and giving better coverage of that region.

It might also help with holidays and sickness cover.
