    Re: tumble dryer fires

Oh no, how can that possibly be so?

I mean every single customer that has a fire has it installed correctly, religiously cleans the filter, vacs it out and stores it in clinically clean conditions.

Must be that if you keep it clean they go on fire! 😉

Either that or they’re lying *********!!!

I know what camp of opinion I fall into there.

    Fixed it.

Was old, slow and slowed the site down as such things tend to do. 🙁

Yeah right… I think the UK government will have a few more pressing things to spend any money they (don’t) have on.

Like oh, you know… health, education and so on.

Pretty okay for the money and better than many is the short answer.

The Britannia you have was made by Ilve, might be worth looking at them as well.

Probably as, as a lot of them do, think that the one that’s cheaper will do the job.

    Then find it doesn’t.

Then blame everyone else bar the person actually at faulty, them.

    Re: Length of manufacturer’s guarantees

EU Directive 1999/44/EC gives consumers the same rights as all UK citizens have under the 5-6 year rule here in all EU Member States of which, to date, the UK still is. It is a bid to harmonise that through EU states, nothing more although the media might have you think otherwise.

However UK law gives greater protection and any company that knows anything about it would just politely tell the customer to push off unless it was a valid claim supported by evidence.

And, if they don’t, tough on them for being so dumb and ignorant of consumer legislation.

But I wouldn’t encourage consumers to take advantage of that ignorance nor to, technically defraud another business as it technically is receiving goods or services through deception and especially so if the customer is aware. Which many are but try it on anyway.

I don’t like my time wasted by muppets trying it on and I’m sure you and others here don’t either so, I don’t encourage it, period.

No, there is no automatic 2 year warranty, it’s a myth.

In fact, there’s no obligation to offer any warranty other than as mandated in the statutory rights.

Re: Replacing integrated freezer with sliding hinge

    Maybe is the answer.

To be honest you may well be better to try to get a local kitchen fitting company to look at it for you and see what can be done. I say that as without seeing the install and figuring it out in advance you could be in for trouble and, you do not want to be throwing money at it in error.

Don’t bother with the big retailers as I doubt they’d have a clue what you were even talking about.

Re: Replacing integrated freezer with sliding hinge

Perhaps modified by a fitter but that may well not end well in many instances, I doubt many would even try.

But as a rule, they cannot be converted.

For a start, the parts to do it are not available which kinda hampers it all before you even begin meaning that however you look at it, its got to be a botch job in some respect.

Re: Replacing integrated freezer with sliding hinge

I get asked this a fair bit, if you can convert or change a unit from fixed hinges to sliders or from sliders to fixed hinges and the short of it is, you cannot do it.

The cabinets come as they come designed to have one or the other system and they cannot in any way be changed or altered.

If you need fixed hinges and sliders then you need to buy the appropriate type as you can’t change it.

Ditto hinges that allow the door to move outward and clear.

Changing or adapting them after purchase is not an option and there’s a number of people that have had to buy a new unit on top of just buying one due to that.
