KeymasterHi Malc,
If you drop an email to Jess on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk she’ll be able to sort that out for you.

KeymasterYes Reddy there is a seal there but if it’s dripped onto the motor the chances are that the module will be blown if not the motor itself as well.
Drip protection at factory about 3p, if that…
Cost to put it right when the motor gets wet… about £200!

KeymasterRe: Service Power?
I don’t know what’s going off with Service Power other than what I hear as, surprisingly (;)), I’ve not been contacted by them, I wonder why that is eh? Anyway, rumour would have it that they have little or no whitegoods work at all and, at this time, volumes that will be available are unknown.
So, with no volume why on Earth should people giving them a discounted labour rate for doing work? Surely the whole point of carrying out repairs with a low labour rate is to get volume work on a brand? Once you factor in multiple brands, unknown stuff that you have to ferret about getting info and spares for any profit that was in the job is gone.
Also, I hear on the grapevine, that they have been going about telling potential clients that they have 140{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cover of the UK for agents. Huh? Like, nobody I know of has that level of cover with many struggling to achieve 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cover. Selective accounting, maybe, now where have I seen that before I wonder…

KeymasterRe: ASEA dishwashers and/or spare parts
Hi Laura,
We’ve given Dave a week off, we know he doesn’t deserve it but what can you do? 😉
If you mail the request to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk it will get dealt with and we’ll get you a price although whether it will be economical to repair or not is in doubt, assuming you mean the wash pump, as they’re usually £100+.

KeymasterYeah, I think I’m the only one that hasn’t got one yet! Sod’s Law that is!
Anyways, you’ll note that I’ve moved the advert for Repairs@ to a far more prominent position, which I meant to do anyway but Martin reminded me to tidy up the other night. So it’s done.

KeymasterBut it has nothing at all to do with them, honest, nothing whatsoever, no way, no sir. 😉
We did tell you all. 🙂

KeymasterNope, twas a mistake on my part…
One of those, “I knew I had to do something, but can’t remember what it is” things. Sorry if it caused any confusion. 😳

KeymasterI missed the last meeting in Peterborough so in all honesty I’m the wrong person to ask right about now as I’m not fully up to speed, plus I’ve been a bit busy lately.
There are some DASA members that are on the site pretty often that may be able to answer your question, but I am not in a position at the moment to do so with any authority. However, I should point out that some of the more noteable members of DASA are either on holiday, i.e. Jason and Mark and there are a few that either don’t bother with UKW at all it would appear or have shunned it entirely never having signed on.
And that’s just about where we’re at for now.

KeymasterRe: DASA progress?
http://www.dasanet.org.uk is the correct link, I have now corrected the links in the info box.
Changed the rest (I think) months ago and no-one’s noticed!
And by “what’s happening”, what do you mean?

KeymasterIs it capped though Martin as BT have started doing that on the domestic accounts. Also what a total pain in the **** to install it!

KeymasterRe: employment with merloni
Ray,
Please don’t mention names, it gets personal then and that’s not cricket. 😉
However I know the feeling since I’ve seen many a “manager” come and go from various manufacturers straight out of business school or university trying to tell me how to run an appliance repair business. On the odd occasion they’d come out with something sensible but it was rare.
Best area managers I’ve seen started as, yep you guessed it, engineers because they understood the majority of the hassles.
As for WEEE, we’ll have to wait and see basically.
