    Re: e-Jobs

Ages since an update on this and it’s been more of a slog that I had anticipated sadly, what with getting the module ready, deaths, accidents and illnesses as well as the issues with a new server there’s been a few delays. 🙁

That’s the bad news over with, here’s the good news…

I mailed the finished SQL file and PHP bits ‘n’ bobs off tonight to Trevor (resident star and PHP geek) and Li for their approval and installation. Obviously it won’t get looked at till Tuesday probably but at least you know it’s happening. I want this in place before mid-January.

As billed since I stick by what I say there is three levels to e-jobs for call allocation…

The top level is left open for now as a future option for shareholders in UKW, independent repairers only. I will not submit to corporate greed on it as this is for us, not some pleb suit in an ivory tower.

Then there’s the subscribers, you guys.

    Then there’s all the rest.

It works that way in order of how the calls are allocated.

The shareholder thing may or may not come to pass, I’ve not fully made up my mind on it and I will NOT ask for anyone’s money without having something of substantial substance to offer. Hence leaving the option open but not setting it in stone. This will also be discussed more if/when it happens in here before anything is done.

Now, you may have noticed Kevin and I on about the Advisory Council of late, well there’s good reason for this as well as they will decide the postcode allocations if any of the above cross and it is not resolved amicably between the members. I sincerely hope that such intervention is not needed and so far we’ve all been total gentlemen here irrespective of the competition even within the same areas. So, I don’t think it will be required but I do think it’s better to have a system to resolve any disargeements in place before the thing goes live and the rules made clear.

It would be, or could be, construed as being unfair and/or biased if any of the three of us (myself, Dave or Kevin) were to take on the role, using the Advisory Council means that it is an independent view that is made by peers. A far better way to go I think.

Anyways, if I’ve rambled on too much or not explained well enough just ask.

    David,

I believe that Dave is a tad hungover today. 😈

But most likely he’ll be able to give you a definitive answer on his return to the office on Tuesday I think.

    Re: DASA!

I have no idea where they’ve all gone.

Phil and Jason read the site. Del’s always about just quiet of late.

I do know that Scott has taken the hump big time, probably because I told him off for cross posting etc and had a go at DASA (heaven forbid :o) and he’s not been seen in ages. Neil has hardly ever been on UKW, Walter doesn’t even have an account!

Oldtog has obviously gone in a huff over Kevin’s remarks after he as in OT, started the personal slanging. 😕

    Ralph is on and reading.

But that’s just what I can see from being on the site.

Just using a little admin module called MS Analysis I can see the last login of each account based on the top 100 page views.

    As of today…

Scotty last seen 81 days ago
    Mark 40 days ago

I could look more if I wished but CBA TBH.

However looking over the DASA site the only people that seem to be saying anything or doing anything there are Jason and Ralph Halford really with the odd post from Dave Pannell as well, so it’s hardly jumping over there either.

I feel sorry for Jason as he seems to be the only one giving a shit about DASA right now and he’s being left to do it all himself and he’s too busy shagging… err, sorry… planning a wedding for it! :rotfl:

There’s not even an agenda for the meeting this month yet other than a bill of who’s supposed to be attending. The website revamp hasn’t happened. None of the things Steve R suggested have been attended to so far as I can see. There’s been little, if any, clarification on Part P or anything else for that matter.

Essentially there’s nothing happening so I assume that they’re all too busy with their own businesses to be doing anything for DASA. But then, Chris Hayter was too busy or ill to be doing anything either and we got shot of him due to that, one year on and there’s…. NO CHANGE!!!

Is it any wonder that DASA gets a slagging?

This is a subject that is very close to my heart, so here’s a bit more explanation on how I see this subject.

Any member of the AC will in effect view any grievance between a UKW member (subscribers only and e-jobs customers) and A.N. Other party be that a customer or a corporate client if the need arises. Essentially it is an arbitration service that is run by us, for us.

When a complaint is received it would be passed to the AC to deliberate on a remedy and to apportion whatever action/judgement they see fit to. The powers will be available to stop people from using e-jobs for set periods or, ultimately, to remove them from that as well as the directories in serious cases, the choice is down to the AC. It will also be their call on whether we publish the complaint as well as the remedy along with the names of any offenders.

There is not anticipated to be a lot of take up on this in the short term but it may well come to pass that it becomes a vital element of the industry, offering a totally unique and totally independent arbitration service.

Time wise, I don’t expect that it will be very costly at all and most things in this industry are pretty clear cut, we’ve seen it all before. I certainly do not expect a deluge of complaints in fact we’ve not had one about our or our member’s services since UKW started!

It shall hopefully display that we are capable of self-regulation without the requirement for an outside body to regulate us, such as a government agency and, if we already have a working system, why change it? I should think it better if we control our own destiny instead of a bureaucrat.

    Re: A happy New Year

I thought they were trying to ban fireworks at New Year?

Anyway, I hope you all have a nice evening and are all well behaved, moral upstanding pillars of the community this evening and into the wee small hours. And, if not, just act normal then! :rotfl:

Wishing you all the best for 2005, it will hopefuly be a good year for us all.

    Re: A happy New Year

Well if I was sitting watching Jools Holland and mourning the fact that due to kids I can’t go party properly, then it would be time for the New Year nonsense. But as it stands I’ll be here, watching the box with the other half awaiting bedtime just like many others I’m sure.

But I make up for it normally at every UK Whitegoods meeting. 😉

You and Bridie have a good time and make sure you stay awake for the bells. 😆

    Anyway, sentiments echoed from here.

Buy a Smeg, wash performance is just fine barring the odd “E2” error!

Or a Haier, now that will make your Whirlpool look like a class act. 😆

Or an Indesit… nuff said! :rotfl:

There’s loads more, just fed up typing them out now.

There’s not a lot else that theDIY’r can try in all honesty as it’s liable to be more serious and harder to diagnose if it’s a new stat in it. What was the original symptoms?

    Re: Workwear Deal

Just a quick update on this, John kindly sent me up the sample and it’s superb! Really nice looking and should make the guys all look that bit more professional which is a great thing IMO.

So I’ll be ordering a few sets given the low cost. Hopefully this is an ongoing arrangement that we can develop through time as well.

Good work John and a superb deal.
