    Re: Trade Related Forum

My mobile IS on 24/7 and it often rings at ungodly hours! 😕

The number is 07967 193895 it is seldom unattended.

I will have an 0870 number for the house that transfers to my VoIP phone and one for fax as well that goes to email, so I can be gotten a hold of okay if you need me.

The UKB one was registered just to save anyone trying to transpose the idea months and months ago. For now I have no intention to do anything with it at all, but I was asked by a couple of people if I would consider doing the same thing for browngoods at the time. For the forseeable future I just can’t see me having the time to do anything with it let alone the inclination.

I know what you mean about the kitchen fitters et all P, but really that’s an education thing as it is with a lot of RGI’s as they don’t have to get the bloody thing back out, we do! I guess that if we educate them a bit better then maybe our life could get a little easier.

Yeah Neale there’s a knack to it as I found out the hard way hen I first did one as well. The easiest way is working cross-handed from the front either top to bottom or vice versa and persevere despite any pain. 😉

If that fails it’s time for someone that has the knack for such a job.

    Re: Trade Related Forum

    Okay, here’s the problem….

Many of the RGI’s (Registered Gas Installers) want to use the site and I’ve had several requests from related trades and I feel that’s what we should call it, simply Related Trades Forum. That way we can cover kitchen installers, RGI’s, retailers, in fact all manners of things and if some of those people listen and take note of what we tell them then we win again. 😉

As for verification, well anyone with 10 minutes and a bit of experience can knock up a letterhead in Word, but I take the point and that may well be one way to verify, fax or email to me or Dave. Likewise with PL certificate, it’s easy to spot a dummy anyway even the employed engineers you just ask them a simple question that a member of the public wouldn’t know or ask for a copy of their ID card.

Whilst P is quite correct in that some are learning on the job, we all are to some extent it’s just that some of them aren’t a tuned in as we are I guess. I don’t think that’s a reason to exclude people.

Related trade Dave is correct, we have to steer away from any technical info or supply it on an ad hoc basis to people that we think are clued up enough not to fry themselves.

Just for your interest, http://www.ukbrowngoods.co.uk is already registered…

    To ME! 😀

    Danny

Do a search for “E2 error” in the forums and you should get the answers.

    Re: Merloni

For that kind of money they needn’t even bother asking me and I wouldn’t advise that anyone else took it on either but the only way we win here is if enough people tell them to go forth.

Frankly, it’s a bad deal and I posted the bit in the rumour mill before I read this as I do have one or two other sources, so they’re obviously telling most people the same thing.

What they are talking about paying doesn’t cover the cost of the calls let alone leaving any profit in it and then there’s the hassle factor.

So na, they can put it the same place as Phil’s head. 😉

    Fun, fun, fun….

So far we’ve had per completed call….

    £15.00
    £16.00
    £17.50
    £25.00
    £30.00

All reported in with one or two absolutely confirmed. However given that the minimum anyone is going to the trade with is ~£35 on a volume contract that kinda puts them from being ridiculous to getting there.

However I hear tell of a £6000 van stock that has to be bought, up front, as well as a laptop that has to be leased, I assume per engineer.

So from that you, in effect you become a franchise without becoming a franchise persay. But then most franchises don’t come with a “We can terminate you on a whim with as little as three months notice” contract clause! 😕

Yep they are known Toni to a few of us. Some seem okay with them, others not mostly the latter from what I’ve heard. 😕

The last I heard the rates on offer they were very poor as well.

Can’t tell you any more as I’ve never worked for JTM.

I missed that one P, what do you mean not recovered? I was back to rights by Sunday… nearly! 😉

The one thing we have to do with this is book it and PAY for it, now the meals I can use UKW dosh for till we collect the money from you guys no problem but we will have to be firm on numbers. The point being, if you book it, it’s booked whether you turn up or not the meal will have to paid for.

So if you are intending to come along please let us know as soon as.

The other thing is, it’s not a big hotel so rooms will likely get booked up pretty sharpish. 😕

I meant to say, we got a call yesterday from the directories here too. 😀

And Martin, did you really expect anything else from either of us? 😉

There’s an obvious comment to be made there Martin but I’ll resist the temptation! 😆

It was an errant quote that produced the error and it is now fixed. 😉

    Re: UK Service Agent Directory.

Not the thread I thought it was but nonetheless it’ll do…

Ian, you logo I scanned and converted (oh the fun I had with that :?) so it’s now available in an electronic format should you wish a copy, or three actually. I couldn’t get the formatting the way I wanted it and would be happy that it looked right and not a sow’s ear so I’ve just planted it there for now, I’ll re-visit it when I have more time.

OT, your details are now up there as requested.

That’ll do Dave, time to go via Kev’s just isn’t on the cards then. 🙁 Anyway, Bridie keeps slagging me about looking like a tramp! 😆

So, we can get that sorted once I find out how to get cheapo flights, John?

I am considering flying into Brum and back on the Sunday if I can con some kind soul into picking me up and giving a lift back to the airport.

Flight after an evening like that… oh I so look forward to it! 😆
