It’s the thin hose from the pump housing up to the level sensors.

KeymasterRe: WTA 2017 conference
Please remember if you are attending to register as this saves a boatload of time for the poor souls booking people in and it also speeds up you getting all sorted and into the venue.
That includes all people attending on stands etc.
Please help us to help you!
Register here in advance:
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/whitegoo … 7724356296
This is required for H&S etc, we know it’s a PITA but we have to do it.

KeymasterRe: Detergent Dosing
If the water supplier says it’s moderately hard then it’ll lie somewhere between medium and hard I’d expect.
Trouble is, a lot of this stuff is trial and error because as you rightly say, it’s not an exact science other than at the extremes where it’s a bit easier.

KeymasterRe: Defrosting
I can tell you it’s not a defrost element.
What I can’t tell you is anything much else as Swan is an own label brand for GUS and there is no technical or spare part support for the brand whatsoever.
Basically, if it’s out of warranty there’s nothing much you can do with them bar deliver it to the local council recycling centre.

KeymasterRe: Suddenly Getting Excessive Foam
Uhm, it kinda does matter Martin, matters a lot possibly.
If you’re doing a maintenance wash with liquid, stop that as you’re wasting your time, energy and money doing so.
You MUST use a bleach containing detergent or it’s about as much use as asking the machine nicely to clean itself for you or, as some may say, no use at all.
If you are, the foam is quite probably excess liquid and assorted gunk in the machine just cleaning off a little with the heat.
No bleach, no sanitisation.
No enzymes, no removal of naturally occurring residues. Although some liquid detergents do contain those, so long as they’re not non-bios.
Correct maintenance wash instructions can be found here:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/clea … nance-wash
Many manufacturers will tell you to use whatever it is they’re punting and only that etc, it’s almost all a load of tosh to sell you stuff you don’t need at hugely inflated prices.

KeymasterRe: Interesting Listen
Not being funny but, some of the stuff that guy mentions is so, so common to hear in one form or another.
He’s missed some stuff, nailed it on others and demonstrated the reality in some areas that, from the other side of things, you see/hear from any number of repairers.
One thing he nailed totally and has been mentioned by any number of to myself and others for years from WP’s/manufacturers/insurers often is that it appears that any number of repairers have not the first clue how to run a business. They fix stuff great (mostly), making a business of it.. not so good at.
And the dishwasher thing, where his opinion is as presented in that way is common to hear in one form or another about this, that and the next thing even when that repairer might well be the only one to think so, with no evidence other than their one anecdotal to support it.
Or, maybe it’s just a bit of patter to butter up customers.
Harmless eh?

Has to be what’s in the machine though as they can’t produce foam on their own.
